Old Man Shoots, Kills Robber

Police today said no charges are expected in the shooting death of a 28-year-old man Sunday at a south Topeka hotel.

Lt. John Sidwell identified the victim today as Anthony D. Hamilton, of Topeka. He said officers discovered Hamilton dead with a single gunshot wound after responding to a shooting at the Regency Inn, 3802 S.W. Topeka Blvd.

Police said 73-year-old Bobby T. Davis, of Hominy, Okla., was staying in Room 636 when he heard a knock on the door. Davis, who carried a small handgun, then opened the door with the chain lock in place.

Police said Hamilton asked to use the telephone, then forced his way into the room. Hamilton then grabbed Davis by the throat and demanded money, authorities said.

As Hamilton attempted to hit the victim, Davis told police he fired one shot at Hamilton, who stumbled out of room and collapsed just outside the doorway.

Sidwell said detectives will forward reports to the district attorney's office, although no charges are expected to be filed.

I'll bet Mayor Daley read that article and thought to himself ... 'IF there were no guns in the world, there would be no armed robberies!

Bullcrap. Butcher knives, swords, spears, crossbows, compound bows, icepicks, pitchforks, baseball bats, iron pipes, bricks, fireplace pokers, and nunchucks.

Nice. LOL.

I've got a stainless Baretta 9mm, but I'm in the market for a .38 snub with an internal firing mechanism. I'm thinking that for inside the house at at close range, the 9mm is too complicated and to large to keep close to the vest. The last thing I want is the prowler to get his hands on the weapon by reaching out and grabbing it. Something small that I can keep down low and close, with good stopping power.

I believe that the description of the human dregs in these stories should include their criminal records (which are almost uniformly lengthy) and an inventory of the items on their persons. I charge the news media to tell the whole story! After all, that's their job!

It is so important (IMHO) that the public understand what kind of threat has been permanently removed from the community. No "out on bail", no "out on parole", no "three strikes and you're out". All that kind of crap simply means "he hasn't got round to you yet" or "Gee, sorry about those last two victims that shouldn't have been victims".

Close but Mayor Daley was more likely thinking that this is another citizen with a gun that needs to be disarmed so that when the Democrat Party is stealing an election as they tried to do in 2000 then there is no threat to Democrat politicians. It is about power and he wants more power. He will never ever be satisfied nor will any of his supporters.

Stay well - Stay safe - stay armed - Yorktown
