Well, he handled Algore magnificently and easily when the Tree tried to intimidate him physically in one of the debates.

I think that Dubya doesn't want to spend his political capital in a rancorous, divisive, and inconclusive "investigation" into SickWillie's crimes.

I agree 100%.
No way are the Bushes afraid of Sick Willie and the Dixie mob. If the "evidence" held by Ashcroft and the DOJ is really juicy, it is best held as a fistful of aces up the sleeve at this point. If need be, tidbits can be "leaked" as warnings at opportune times.
The ignorant rabble does not want to revisit the Clinton era, and throwing it back in their faces would only bring on a backlash.
