If this is true, the Administration has some questions to answer. What happened to: 'you're either with us or against us.'
Hold all countries that harbor these terrorist thugs accountable and kill all those leaders who assist them in any way, including that two-faced Pakistani President.

The Taliban was created and funded by Pakistan.

FWIW, Rumsfeld said this morning on Meet the Press that he has seen no indication that this happened, and that he likely would have known about it, if it did.

The Department of Defense did not respond to a request for comment. Rumsfeld specifically denied this report this morning on Meet The Press.

I believe the Indian media reported something along these lines, at the time.. and it was even reported right here on FR. Understandably, FReepers dismissed the reports at that time as Indian propoganda.

What happened to: 'you're either with us or against us.' That was the only cliche George Bush could remember when he was with his speech writer.

"If this is true, the Administration has some questions to answer." From the Meet the Press transcript:
MR. RUSSERT: The New Yorker magazine revisited the subject that we talked about in December, and they insist that in Novemberand this is the articlethat: In interviews, however, the American intelligence officials and high-ranking military officers said that Pakistanis were indeed flown to safety, in a series of nighttime airlifts that were approved by the Bush Administration. The Americans also said that what was supposed to be a limited evacuation apparently slipped out of control, and, as an unintended consequence, and unknown number of Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters managed to join in the exodus. The point being, in November, Pakistan was able to airlift people out of Afghanistan. Did that happen?
SECY RUMSFELD: I do not believe it happened. I cant prove a negative, but our people have checked to the extent that it is possible to check. We have had enormous numbers of aircraft and intelligence sensors in various ways watching that area. No one, that I know, inconnected with the United States in any way, has saw any such thing as a major air exodus out of Afghanistan into Pakistan. I have read these stories, Ive heard these stories, Ive never been able to run them down. No one has ever been able to run them down and prove them, and I doubt them. I think theyre not true.

Hold all countries that harbor these terrorist thugs accountable and kill all those leaders who assist them in any way, including that two-faced Pakistani President. Yeah, never mind that this story is false. Just kill the Pakistani President, right?
Sheesh, I am so glad that grownups run our government instead of some of the people here.

Reacting to more bullship from Hersch. No thank you. He hasn't been right on anything pertaining to this war.

Sy Hersh's mouth is not a Bible simply because it opens and closes. Sounds like Indian propaganda/exaggeration/BS to me.
Musharraf is walking a knife edge, and India chooses this time to up the ante, knowing he has his hands full. Classic opportunistic foreign policy, classic "world's largest democracy".

Fact: There were numerous Pakistani military 'advisors' on the ground in Afghanistan, including in Konduz. When the areas were overran by NA, there were no Pakistani military there. There have been many reports, particularly at Konduz and Kandahar, that Pakistani flights were allowed in and out to remove their people.
I tend to believe these reports. Notice Rumsfeld's wording.."No one, that I know, inconnected with the United States in any way, has saw any such thing as a major air exodus out of Afghanistan into Pakistan." All depends on how you define 'major air exodus' now, doesn't it?

US 'allows Pakistani fighters to escape'
FROM ZAHID HUSSAIN IN ISLAMABAD
PAKISTANI fighters trapped in the besieged city of Konduz have been airlifted to safety in Pakistan with the apparent consent of the United States, according to sources inside Pakistan.
Several Pakistani aircraft and helicopters are believed to have flown into the city over the past few days as hundreds of Pakistanis fighting with the Taleban were surrounded by Northern Alliance forces.
The Times...
I think The Daily Telegraph also had an article about this...

I would give just about as much credibility to this report as Hersh's other reports have deserved, NONE.

The United States under Clinton created and nurtured a relationship with al-Qaeda to aid the State Depts agenda in the Balkans, the Caucuses and in Central Asia. This relationship has been documented time and again. There is a cover up going on by those in Washington and beyond to save their skins from any blow back due their way.
You guys want a respected Conservative journalistic documentation of the Clintonistas (many remain in Sate and Defense as of today) dealings and alliances with al-Qaeda. If you doubt AIM's thesis, in the comments section of the links under the heading Archive I have posted links to articles that show the relationship between al-Qaeda organizations and the Clinton Administration. The Bush administration I am sad to say also has these people within its rank. The so called careerists in State and Defense:
Please read BIN LADEN GATE and see for yourselves if such a thing is possible.
After you get angry, start asking your elected representatives some questions and demand answers.
PS: MY apologies for such a long bump list.

"Musharraf has two-timed you." That would assume that the U.S. government weren't allowing the airlifts to occur. Who would propose that they (U.S. military leaders) were unaware of these airlifts?
