I'm not surprised at the low turnout. I was at MSU back during the late 60's and I have little recollection of anti-war activity back then. Maybe a few liberal arts students and their professors who took over a building for a talk-in or something but they were a fringe bunch and everyone knew it. Heck, shoulder length hair on men drew derision and laughter up until about 68.
On the other hand, a good panty raid like the one at Brody back in '67 or a riot like after the NCAA finals a few years ago, and you have thousands of participants. MSU still is much more of a party school than a Berkeley/Columbia peacenik school.

Yep...I recall my Psych prof there in '77 referring to MSU as "quality education for the masses".
