As far as the "equal and opposite reaction" theory, answer this: What were the shoes attached to? If Reid had succeeded in detonating his shoes, since the explosive was uncontained, there was no possibility of a "rocket effect." To have that effect, the explosives would have to be confined, by a hard material such as steel, in a manner which would have directed the blast in a specific direction. Shoes don't meet the requirements. In any case, the explosives were attached to his feet, not the aircraft, so the only thing that would have been "rocketed" would have been his lower legs.
Nice try, but consider the source. Yes, even a broken clock is right twice a day, but Debka's track record isn't even close to that!
