With the passage of time, every day matters. The direction of events and the ultimate consequences of the pivotal transformation in America, cannot be clearer. Yes, the War on Terror, is changing the Nation more than the horror of those eight Clinton years. The prime fault lies not with the Bush administration, but rests with the American People. That is not to exclude the President or his appointees from allowing this frightful trend to take hold. So what is this threat to civilization and the national heritage? Well, it should be obvious, it is called Patriotism.
Now before you lynch the messenger, consider the nature of National Loyalty. We are told that Patriotism is love for one's country, which is valid. But in practice, the current version of devotion to country, is defined as blind faith and obedience to government policies. We are continuously told that at no other time has the American public been so united. But the reality is, never have they been more wrong. Wrong to support a false and destructive policy to police the world, American style. CLICK FOR FULL ARTICLE..
What can an "ordinary Ameircan do"????
Good question. I believe things have reached a point where something must be done. I only wish I knew what.
Jim Robinson not only had an idea - a way to fight. He has implemented it. Those who would tear him down or Free Republic down have simply lost their way.
Oh please ... Sartre was a deluded fool without the savvy of a Horowitz, even, who ended up schlepping handbills on Champs Elysee.
True philosphers are marked by their awe, humility and coherence ... not their pedantry, messy lives, poor math and evolutionary, "new" truths to fit their subjective and compartmentalized realities.
OK. See below.
Jim Robinson, by the way, is an American "patriot" of the highest order.
I tend to agree. That's why I said right up front that the article over-dissed him.
But, again, please outline solutions to the "Hitleresque" patriotism you see as the major problem in our country today re: blindness to what is coming for America.
Okeedokee. Please see below.
The march towards statism is one that is horrendous in its potential destructiveness - but I am asking - where and how would you stop it? What can an "ordinary American do"????
There's the rub. The other side - and I do NOT mean the Democrats, I mean the globalists, and that includes most of the Dems and most of the Repubs, plus the people in power (and money) behind them - have had about 60 years to dumb down the American public, and they've done a remarkably good job of it. Children are no longer taught, in government schools, who they are and where this country came from - in fact, they're taught to disdain the origins of the United States, as well as those who founded it. The other side has also successfully eliminated God from "public" schools and from governmental institutions - while God and the Christian faith were the very foundations that this country was built upon.
The Dems and the Repubs are a smoke and mirrors game of Good Cop / Bad Cop that keeps the sheep thinking that THIER SIDE (whichever it is) is either winning or gonna win after the next election, while in reality they're only Socialist Party D and Socialist Party R. The same agenda keeps rolling regardless of which party is in office. For example, the Bush administration, while saying things that "sound good" to conservatives, in reality have done almost nothing any different than Clinton's administration would have done (not counting the so-called "war"). On the home front, all the same socialist sovereignty-eliminating themes and agendas just keep moving along.
So step 1 is to wake up the sleeping sheep, so that they at least have a clue what's being done to them. I think that there's a limited window in which to do this, before it's goiung to become not just politically incorrect but actually illegal to disagree with or criticize the actions of the federal government. Personally, I spent about 15 years trying to do what I could to help people wake up, including starting a constitutionally-based national newspaper a few years ago. Maybe 4 or 5 years ago I came to the conclusion that the vast majority of the sleeping sheep don't WANT to be disturbed - it's more comfortable - for now - to just snooze and watch football games and pretend everything's OK.
But whether it can actually be accomplished or not, Step 1 *is* to wake up the people. I no longer think it's possible, frankly - the snopwball is too far down the hill and moving too fast, especially since 9/11.
I think Jim Robinson has done more than most "ordinary Americans" could do to facilitate shining the light of TRUTH on the events of our day - don't you?
Yep, I do. And I'm very grateful for the forum he and John have provided.
However, we have been attacked by an enemy of our nation. I know memories are short. But I will never forget September 11th.
Nor will I. But there's another enemy, and I'm not sure which is ultimately the deadlier. America's freedom and her sovereignty are nearly gone.
Of course the totalitarians in our government want to use September 11th to install their version of the "third reich" in America.
Yep. And a whole lot of people, including "conservatives," are cheering them on. Again, just like in Hitler's Germany.
I am asking you - what else - besides provide a forum where the light of truth can shine on events as they progress - can one person do????
Pray. The only thing that's going to turn this around is true national repentance and a return to the God who helped this country be built.
Frankly, I do not believe it's going to happen. But that doesn't keep me from recognizing truth, such as was in this article, and trying to point it out.
More to my point:
The last two posts from "your" side that I responded to:
a lewrockwell.com article
Askel's pravda post
Both have a glaring lie in them, the Lewrockwell lie about the Patriot act is particularly odious- it subverts the efforts of critics of the act to an attack upon something that isn't in the law. That effort should be used to address the real faults of the law if those are faults are to be addressed.
Sure, opinion pieces keep the issue in play, but an appeal solely to emotion is not persuasive: Tom Paine's emotional language is backed by accepted facts.
And an opinion piece that includes dishonesty actually does damage to the position it purports to support!
Regards.
"If the government states that the alleged commission of a crime should prove injurious to State Security, then the citizen cannot invoke Fifth Amendment privilege to remain mute. He can be compelled by whatever means necessary, (Ashcrofts own words) to divulge what he may know. "
The first lie I found in the article.

The rest of it is too incoherent to figure out when he's lying or what he's lying about.
He mixes the PATRIOT Act and the Tribunals up, at least I think he does. This dishonest rant does a great disservice to American citizens who care about the Constitutionality and consequences of our laws.

Feel free to do so. I'm particularly interested in digging up Ashcroft's "by whatever means necessary" quote. But, of course, I've a penchant for the odd direct quote.
LOL - now HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??? hehehe....
Self-infatuation isn't "love of country."
The only way to prove a negative (that this is not in the act) is for me to present the entire matter under debate.
Here is the Act as passed: http://spot.pcc.edu/~rwolf/USA_Patriot_Act.pdf
By inspection, his assertion is not supported by the language of the law.
Now, you need only find in it the authority he asserts is in it to disprove my assertion.
It is a question that can only be decided by inspection, and I'll appreciate your showing me any support for his assertion you may find.
