Perhaps we want Bin Laden to think that we think he's left Afghanistan?

Worth resetting in big type:

ABC did not contact the Agency about this allegation before airing it.

ABC, NBC, CBS.

Question: Which one is the worst?

We have reached no such conclusion

I know what has happened. CIA backs away from the negative publicity on FR (see the thread CIA: BIN LADEN ESCAPED)

Since when does the CIA issue press releases about their activities and information?

I would bet OBL has been on ice for several weeks,. The CIA is smart enough to know that if we were to announce that OBL was dead, captured or sexually assualted to death by donkeys, our liberal Press would insist on ending the mission to rid the world of these animals

A total guess on OBL would be ... he is dead ... we pretty much or absolutely know he is dead ... and we are happy to keep his probable or definite death a guessing game for two reasons:

One: we do not want the inevitable letdown, and loss of will to complete the war job, if the public knew he were dead; and

Two: we like having the Moslem "street" confused as to who might be their leader.

In the alternative, we know he is alive, and we know where he is, but keep it a guessing game for two reasons:

One: we want to follow his movements and contacts; and

Two: we like having the Moslem "street" confused as to who might be their leader.

It is almost impossible that we do not know his actual fate. And it is wonderful that we keep it a secret.

Isn't it odd that the CIA would issue a press release on this matter?

What makes this interesting is Brit Hume's comment that such an official statement is very rare for the CIA.

Don't these CIA people understand about revisionist history before it happens that we have going on now? They better learn to play along or else face the wrath of the socialists.

CIA: BIN LADEN ESCAPED (ABC NEWS):To fool U.S. forces in the area, the CIA believes, bin Laden left behind a tape-recorded message that was transmitted only after he was long gone.

This was from the ABC report yesterday. It was not even attributed to unnamed sources and there were no quotes.

Also, why would OBL need to fool the CIA if he was already -- "long gone".

Agency RARELY speaks to or about media. When they do, it is usually because the media got story very wrong.

ABC's problem now is they have egg on face and they can't get anyone from other DC agency, (DOD, WH, State, etc.) to say, "Yep, that what the CIA told us!

In network circles... many pipes will be smoked ofer this... as the NNAs would say.....

Disinformation lives on at ABC....

Pity, we shall never really know if at sometime in the future, they actually DO report anything factual about the whereabouts of Osama bin Laden. ABC has steadily declining credibility, which now is somewhat less than most of the widely circulated tabloids.
