The only way it would not be a violation would be if you lived in a state whose majority wished to legalize prostitution.

Selling your body is either an inherent violation of your neighbors' rights or it is not. A piece of paper doesn't change that. If I chose to have one man a night come into my home (no wise cracks please, this is strictly for hypothetical purposes only) and we engage in sex and I am monetarily compensated for that, how does that violate your rights as my neighbor three doors down?

If my subdivision had the rule that no one can allow their yard to grow over 4 inches, do I not violate the rights of the other residents by breaking that law? States have the same type of laws. Prostitution is one of them. The majority of my state views prostitution as a detriment to neighborhoods, towns, cities, and ultimately society. Therefore it is outlawed. If someone breaks that law in my neighbor hood, my right to reside in a community with similar standards has been violated. The prostitute has violated a law that she had agreed to abide by by choosing to reside in this state.
