I can (and must) fight the political battles as they come, but I need to pray unceasingly because:
"Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against...the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm." (Eph 6:12)
We can only change the things we are able to, the big things are ultimately in His hands. I cannot fret over this, it only brings discouragement, and that leads to paralysis.
Keep "fighting the Good fight" my Brothers and Sisters - for Satan IS a defeated foe. We just need to play out the string, and keep running the race to the end.
Maranatha...

Ahem, And Our CONTROL over how the funds are spent is thru What Means?

Ahem, are they gonna use Arthur Anderson's Primer on Strict Accountability as their Guide?

I'm against the abortion part of this, but truth be told, every dime you spend on family planning now is going to save millions in foreign aid to poor countries later.

They CAN'T use the funds for abortions overseas.

Uh-huh, and I bet you trust this is the case.

Askel5,

If I have understood you correctly in previous threads, you believe that the "Russians" are driving the bus when it comes to the post-cold war world order. At times I believe you have even suggested that they do so with the knowledge and complicity of the US political establishment (Bush I &II included).

Yet this doesn't square with Putin's angry departure from Midland and our subsequent unilateral abrogation of the ABM treaty, does it?

Do you believe the old Cold War competition continues, or are we merely seeing new partners squabbling over scraps and details? Would love to hear your ideas.

"....Your shouting and preaching accomplishes nothing at all!...."

Yes indeed. That's what I keep saying. I keep trying to suggest that the days of shouting and preaching and e-mailing and voting in fixed pantomimes are coming to an end. I'm glad you agree with me.....

"...Joining the Muslies?..."

Well, only if one believes that only the muslies are capable of rational thinking--stuff like comprehending "cause and effect".

I, for one, stoutly reject your "moslem supremicist" point of view.....

Between homeschooling my two children, being a homemaker and a wife--I wouldn't call my question ignorant. I don't have the time like to look into everything that is going on. If you can't answer a question without insulting me, then don't bother answering a question of mine.

Lol ... you must be joking.

You are joking, right?

Why in God's name would we post Mr Hankie to any spot in which he might possibly be held accountable? Are you crazy?

Besides, the work of a professional maotai, Chicom ping-pong player and transnational Board member extraordinnaire is never done.

He doesn't have the time for another "Public Servant" stint.

I'm about sick and tired of that old lame "Wake up" call. It's insulting and childish.

"...Looks like the funding has increased for "family planning", but can't be used for abortion per Bush's executive order....

Laugh Out Loud, Laugh Out Loud, Laugh Out Loud!!!!!

Let's see, the United States Education Department somehow misplaced about 30 billion dollars over the last 5 years. American citizens can't even (or won't even) keep track of what their government does with the money. Do you REALLY believe the funds transferred to global bureacracies even further shielded from scrutiny--what pathetic little there is--are accountable?

No, of course you don't. You couldn't. Nobody could be that fatuous. Could they?

I put my trust in no man, but I know what the law says. Bush, in signing this appropriations bill has done what he could prior to the signing of the bill to make sure that funds aren't used for abortion. Short of yanking all funds from foreign countries or going to war with those who misuse our money, he can do no more. (And he, personally, likely doesn't have the power or clout to withdraw money from foreign nations). The title of the article makes it sound like this is what the whole bill was about, but it is just another thread to bash Bush as not being a conservative. Truthandlife didn't set it up that way and was rightly concerned by what the article intimated. However, I think the article doesn't take Bush's earlier executive order into consideration. If money (which, like it or not is going to the foreign nations anyway) goes to family planning but not to abortion, I don't mind it. Bush already covered the abortion aspect the first week of his presidency.

"Nobody could be that fatuous. Could they?"

Yes they could and are. Pragmatism, incrementalism, and strategerie will do that to men.
