On Thursday, January 10, 2002, the White House reported President Bush signed the ominous $15.4 billion foreign appropriations bill, H.R. 2506, for fiscal-year 2002. The bill authorizes $446.5 million U.S. tax dollars to be given to other countries for abortion-family planning activities throughout the world. The abortion-family planning funds approved by Bush represents an increase of $21.5 million over last year for international family planning. Also on Thursday, Bush signed the labor, education and health spending bill, and a defense spending bill that was widely reported by The Associated Press (Bush Signs Defense Spending Bill).

Shame on you both for supporting abortion and that phoney Bush.A little discernment might be in order for you, buddy. You know what you can do with your shame.
To: Campion
God will certainly smile on us for this ... NOT.
I want proof!

Now if only you could work up the same degree of moral outrage over the actual effects of this bill as you do over the semantics of some Grade B publication...
To: Aristophanes
Under your definition, every woman who takes birth control pills is an abortionist. As are all MDs who prescribe them, all pharmacies that sell them, and all husbands that pay the medical bills.
You are out of touch with the common usage of the word "abortion" in this country.
Please don't call president Bush a liar simply because he doesn't use your extreme definition of abortion.

yse, dear any criticism of the current administration is labeled as "bashing"these days...funny that the mantra here was that we MUST make sure W is elected and then we'll hold his feet to the fire... now we most wave our pom-poms no matter the cost to liberty or principles. It is bashing when it is not based on fact. If you read the actual bill and take Bush's exec order into mind, this article is misleading at best and an outright lie at worse. It does not help conservatism to jump into shrill hysterics every time someone brings up a charge against the President. If Bush actually did something supporting abortion, I would join in in criticizing his decision. I did it with his stem cell decision. However, the facts in this case do not support the contention of the article, and thus far we have seen no evidence that our President has suddenly done an about face on his earlier executive order. If the evidence doesn't support it and yet the criticism continues, yes, it is bashing, slander, whatever you call it and it should stop.

If a woman conceives and then takes an overdose of "birth control pills" to expunge the fertized egg, do you consider that an abortion?

Now if only you could work up the same degree of moral outrage over the actual effects of this bill as you do over the semantics of some Grade B publication... The actual effects of this bill could actually be positive if it reduces the number of unwanted pregancies, so I am not really outraged. I am skeptical that they will get much results. I would be outraged if the article as written was true, but it is not.

"Folks feel that Bush Jr. LIES! Simple enough for you? "Folks feel that you are a Bush-hating whacko nut case. Simple enough for you?
.
Prove me wrong by showing the exact statement that President Bush made that he knew was false at the time he made it. In fact, just show me one false statement that he made about abortion.
We're waiting.

Parents, right? I couldn't remember the new method the church is pushing now. They talked about it extensively during my pre-canna sessions.

It does to me. You folks have got to wake up some day and see that the Repubs and the Dems are nothing more than a Good Cop / Bad Cop smoke and mirrors game, and they have been for decades. While one side or the other "wins" alternately, the same agenda keeps moving forward. Ultimately it's all about globalism. We're being moved toward a pre-determined outcome, and all these things are simply pieces in the puzzle.Couldn't have said it better myself, lord knows I've tried. Thank you. Blackbird.

It is my opinion that partial birth abortionists will be criminals by the time Bush's first term is over. That is where the current battle should be fought because we can win it. Then we move to the next line in the sand. Incrementalism is something the right needs to embrace, practice and beat the left over the head with. I agree with you.

Are you saying RU486 doesn't cause abortion?
No I don't think most women on birth control are even aware they're having abortions. How could they be? Certainly the pharmaceutical companies who make the abortifacients and the doctors who prescribe them haven't told them. But like it or not, realize it or not, if you're on the pill you've probably had an abortion or two.

Nor I. Dittoes. I've been singing this particular song for about a year.... Glad to see there are others.

We cannot have a legitimate political discussion using trick definitions. The commonly accepted meaning of "abortion" does not include the normal use of birth control pills.
If a coat hanger manufacturer got an SBA loan some of the Bush-haters would accuse him of funding the production of abortion instruments.
President Bush does not lie.
To: bayourod
Prove me wrong by showing the exact statement that President Bush made that he knew was false at the time he made it. In fact, just show me one false statement that he made about abortion. Here's a crack at it:
Bush during the campaign: "I'm pro-life."
Bush also during the campaign: "...except in the case of rape and incest ... and RU486."
Those statements are mutually exclusive.
To: DittoJed2
you need to show me where I supported this article, or it's conclusions...
you also need to pay attention to the fact that I raised opposition to the whole damned family planning appropriation.
In fact answer me how this is bringing forth a smaller government or more conservative type of agenda
thae fact of the matter is I am rather sick of the whole noble thief (ala Robin Hood) idea of goodness and compassion.
you can do no good with stolen money, coercive charity starts with theft, and you said you don't mind...
Good Day

You should. As populations continue to grow in third world countries, there are going to be increasing levels of civil unrest and rebellions. These will spread to neighboring countries and will eventually involve our allies.
Or you can look at it another way: bin Laden's dream of creating an Islamic Superpower -- stretching from the Middle East to the Phillipines -- to rival the United States and democracy will all but be assured if the population trends in those regions continue on their current path.
One way or another, this is an issue that is going to effect us if we don't help these countries get their population growth under control.
To: bayourod
"We cannot have a legitimate political discussion using trick definitions." I am aware of that, which is why I asked you if you would consider a chemically-induced abortion caused by overdosing on birth control to be--in fact--an abortion. I guess you're choosing not to answer that question. End of discussion.
I can pick up a gun and beat someone to death with it. It ain't how the gun was meant to be used, but the victim is still dead as a doornail. You would say that he can't be dead because I didn't use a club to beat him.
To: Always Right
And of course, you are right.
Did anyone read the AP article, that focuses on the military raise?
