Thanks for letting us know about the targets. As you already know the trick for shooting the star out is to shoot around the star. I have a 50% chance of winning. How did you win the bikes? Did you have to shoot more than one star out? My problem when I do it is that half way through cutting the star out, I can turn around and noticed that everyone in the area quit what they're doing and is staring at me. It's kind of hard on the nerves. The last time I won, I went to the fair with a couple that helped to run a charity. I promised that if I won, I would donate the stuffed animal, but I wouldn't carry it. I should have done it just before we left because they had to cart this large stuffed animal all over the fair. What was irritating was that the carny kept moving his fingers along the edge for a couple of minutes looking for some red. I kept on telling the guy that the hole was bigger than the star so how could there be any red on the cardboard. The SOB kept ignoring me looking for the nonexistant red. I was convinced that he had a little red on his fingertips. After a couple of minutes of going over the target he finally conceded that I won. Then he made a big deal out of it to get more customers. What a @#*&%$^%^&!

The stand had these tiny, but real bicycles as one of the choices for successfully shooting out the star. We tried a couple of times with no luck - we knew enough to shoot around the star, and to shoot as few BB's as possible, but didn't win.

The next day we were talking to another guy at a different "star" booth - he was bored so he spent about fifteen minutes explaining the best technique. His "trick" was to flick the trigger so as to fire one BB at a time.

We went back to the original booth and my brother-in-law nailed it on the second target. I felt bad for the girl running the booth - it was her first day, and her "trainer" had just left her on her own. She shut the booth down to go find her boss when her first customer won. The limit was one win per day, so we went back the next day and both won.
