Racicot to Give Up Lobbying Work

Marc F. Racicot, President Bush's choice to chair the Republican Party, yesterday yielded to complaints from the political right and left by announcing he will no longer lobby on behalf of major corporations and interest groups.

Calling the criticism "a learning experience," Racicot said he understood why some people saw a conflict of interest in his plans to lobby for groups such as an electric utility coalition while also chairing the GOP and spearheading its fundraising efforts.
