ABOARD THE USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT -- The United States should consider attacking Iraq and ousting Saddam Hussein after its campaign in Afghanistan, senior U.S. senators said Wednesday.
The comments came as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and several other senators visited this aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea.
"Next up Baghdad!" McCain yelled during a tour of the flight bridge.
Later McCain told a reporter that Iraq presents "a clear and present danger" to the United States.
"I think Iraq is going to have to be considered" as a target after Afghanistan, McCain said.

The two of them have paired up since Bush was inaugurated. I still think they plan a 2004 ticket with McCain becoming an independent. These two guys have no decency, going on the USS Roosevelt, where all of our military heros are and holding their photo opportunities. Liberman did not want to count the military ballots of 2000 and McCain the falsely labeled war hero was MIA when it came to the counting of military ballots. Just because McCain spent time in as a POW, he does not behave heroically in my book. He is mean and devious. Can any of you imagine what this war would be like if McCain were the Commander and Chief.
"Next up Baghdad!" McCain yelled
Johnny Crashs broken clock moment.
"Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., said the United States should have international backing for any military action in Iraq. "I think it would be wrong, very shortsighted and very dangerous for the United States to unilaterally move on Iraq," he said.
On the other hand, I'm tired of the whining that we need to "get permission" from other nations in dealing with terrorism. Last September, W put the World on notice that we will go wherever we have to to "root out terrorism." Has anyone heard the Arabs getting pissed off at what we're doing to the Taliban in Laughganistan?... Nope, and they won't when W finally decides to pull the trigger on Iraq for refusing UN weapons inspectors back in Iraqi sand-land
You have such venomous contempt for McCain that even when you agree with him, you actually fantasize Dubbya between him up! And BEHIND THE WOODSHED no less!
So WHAT if he's not President? He's got every right to express himself, just like Thompson, Hagel, and yes- even Liebermann have. Personally, McCain's opinion is far more re-assuring than Hagel's at this point. Chuck, you're a REPUBLICAN! Don't worry about what Europe thinks of what we do.
