University Is Buzzing as Young Pastor Resigns
A homosexual scandal is rocking Rev. Jerry Falwell's archconservative Liberty University, where rumours are rampant that male students engaged in gay sex with a campus pastor.
Scrambling to do damgae control, Falwell-an outspoken foe of homosexuality -slammed a news lid on his Lynchburg Va. campus.
When an ENQUIRER reporter contacted the university to ask about the sudden resignation of Eric Lovett, 29, assistant pastor in Liberty's spiritual life department, Falwell himself called back within minutes.
"While I have heard rumours, I myself have no knowledge, no personal knowledge, of any gay movement," said the 68-year old preacher.
Lovett vehemently denies being part of any gay ring and insists he is not homosexual, but Falwell told the ENQUIRER "I was told he has had problems in this area you speak of (homosexuality), but I myself have no personal knowledge of this.

Another example - I get so angry when the men we hold up as Holy, committing themselves to Godly work, fall so far from grace and blaspheme His name.
Camera hungry Falwell will get soundly ripped for this and perhaps rightly so.
A lockdown only adds to the frenzy and makes Protestants no better than the secret Catholic courts that deal with wayward priests we were yammering about on the other thread

I think the angle here is that Falwell knew something about this guy's battles with homsexuality in the past and still hired him to supervise young men in the Capus Life Office who may have been involved in this sex ring.

What elevates the scandal to national importance is Falwell's prominent platform which he uses at times to assault the homosexual lifestyle and gay leadership. I guess it would be scandalous if Falwell were the one participating in the activity, but he wasn't. Believe me, at Christian universities, the administration is not monitoring every waking minute of every single staff member and student to ensure that they don't stray from the straight and narrow. Apparently, the Enquirer doesn't understand that.

That's it, Falwell should have made the guy dean of women, to avoid contact with young male students!

The way I see it. There seemed to be a problem. The problem was confronted and dealt with. Where is the scandal?
To: mountaineer
Wasn't there a big scandal at Hillsdale U. a while back along these lines involving a Vice President of the University?

There is something to the story...but in the end...l eave it to the enquirer to screw it up.From what I understand...a student walked into an office at Liberty and claimed that he and this assistant were involved in a homosexual relationship.
There is nothing to the nonsense that there is a group of male students engaged in this...that is hyperbole by the media as usual.
I spend plaenty of time on Liberty University's campus and I can assure you that it is the last place you are going to find a homo clique. The atmosphere just is not conducive for it.
Now.....if you wanna talk about heterosexuality that is something else.....from what I understand...Playboy has Liberty ranked as one of the schools with the most beautiful women.....and Brothers....
...it is true!
But in all seriousness.....there is no big scandal here. You either have a codependant student with issues or you have an assistant who couldnt hide himself any longer. Nothing more.

I bet Katie and Matt will have this on their show tomorrow!

Maybe the fundi's on this website will take a couple of hours off from bashing Catholics. (I doubt it) You know, if Baptists would only allow their ministers to marry, none of this would ever have happened.
Oh, wait, they do. Never mind.

The head honcho at Hillsdale had an affair with his daughter-in-law, or something like that, as I recall. She committed suicide. "Law and Order" did an episode based on the story.

Katie Colic will be chomping at the bit, no doubt.

It makes no difference whether it's true or not...Falwell will milk it for all it's worth. It's a ticket to yet another round of talk show appearances. He seems to adhere to the Hollywood idea that there is no such thing as BAD publicity.
