Thanks for the link. Getting myself into a 12-step program for sexual addiction has, in effect, given me back my life. I hesitate to "talk program" on FR only because I don't want to get into the 'addiction is a choice' thing. My belief is that at some point addiction ceases to be a choice, but not seeking help is a choice.

Women have difficulty with this as well. Harlequin Romance novels and other romance novels are full of sexually explicit material...and women read them. Let's not end the concern with the men. Women need to be exhorted as well.

How about the people who make it? Certainly some of them are straddling the line of immaturity and evilness. I've seen some stuff that really made me feel sorry for some of these girls. I wonder if they've got a family somewhere.

I have never heard of anyone who received porn in the e-mail that didnt sign up for it in the first place, did this happen to you?

I suspect he's talking about spam e-mails featuring links to porn websites. Those spam e-mails are not the fault of the receiver. Porn sites buy e-mail lists which are culled from any number of legitimate sources (postings on regular non-porn Usenet newsgroups or online subscription newspapers for instance). Then they send their spam. I've never visited a porn site in my life yet I get porn spam. I delete it immediately, no problem.

I have yet to understand why so many people have a problem with one adult admiring the nude form of another adult.

Don’t you guys have something better productive to do than this. Like protest corruption in government.

By the way, even the most hard core pornography could not ever hope to hold a candle to the sexual, political, religious, real life, historical soap opera we call the Old Testament of the Holy Bible.

I have received porn email before without requesting it. I responded to a webmaster on a historical site. Apparently he did not like my response for within 30 minutes I received two viruses via email(blocked them easily enough) and for about three months received email from porn sites that he more than gladly signed me up for. Learned my lesson quickly never to reply from an email I ever planned to use again unless I trusted the recepient

The fact that porn is so readily available (you don't have to go to the "dirty book store" anymore) also contributes.

Moreover, it seems to be getting more extreme -- I've gotten spam e-mails advertising incest and "barnyard action."

I also came across a different tactic just today: I hit a link to what should have been religious site and instead ended up being redirected to a XXX search site -- even the main page (all I saw) was rather explicit.

Apparently what happens is that the porn folks buy up expired domain names and modify the page to redirect people to their own sites. Lots of people don't bother to update their links very often, which means that there will be a lot of inadvertent hits on the porn site -- and probably a lot of curiosity seeking as a result.

Open a hotmail account and watch what happens.

I have been forwarding thier abuse and postmaster and admin addresses ALL the junk I get, with a note, "I KNOW YOU OR YOUR EMPLOYEES SELL THESE ADDRESSES INSTANTLY!"

The XXX junk at the hotmail boxes were the worst of all.

Some of the addresses could never be guessed at or arrived at by random generators so quickly.

I abandoned that account, anyway. I also refuse all mail from them and Yahoo on my domains, since the adresses are forged by spammers so often.

I guess you don't know anyone with a hotmail account. Nothing that come is too hard-core, but the pictures don't leave much to the imagination. They are full of links to other places.

It is my understanding that Hotmail sells email address lists - and I would suppose other services do too. My nearly 60 year-old mother gets the same porn-spam that I do, and I know she did not sign up for it.

Many more people are quite capable of enjoying porn when and where it is appropriate with no undue effects.

That is your opinion but I want to tell that pornography has wrecked more marriages than you will ever know. Hopefully you are not married because you are wrecking your marriage with that stuff. And if you are not married then you are going to have some unreal expectations of your wife that will make you very unfullfilled.

It's not the religious crap so much as it is the fact that now my right arm is so much larger than the left. Oh yeah, and my nickname is "The Crab".

Perhaps if some of the mainstream religions had not made sexual cripples out of generations and generations of people, there would be no outlet for these Onanistic pursuits?

I had a pastor once that said we, meaning fundamentalist Christians, needed to stop telling our children no about sex in a knee-jerk like fashion. Instead of saying no and acting like sex is something dirty we should be telling our children to wait. That sex is wonderful, but that it was made to be enjoyed by a man and his wife.
