I was thinking the same thing as I glanced through an old logic text last month. As you probably know, the connection between logic and moral clarity is at least as old as Plato. "Let no one ignorant of geometry pass these doors," said the sign at the entrance to the academy. Unfortunately, even the logic of mathematics is under constant assault in the education world these days. The splendid logical constructions of Euclid were completely absent from my daughter's high school geometry textbook, and (unfortunately) that's the rule rather than the exception these days. Maybe we can at least get the students to play chess : )
