I already did check your profile, denny. That's why I was surprised that you quoted Mt 5:39 instead of Lk 22:36. To find out what kind of "pacifist" Jesus was, I direct you to Mt 21:12. Sounds more like a bouncer than a pacifist to me. As for meekly submitting when struck, Jesus doesn't look so meek to me in Jn 18:23. Looks like he got in the officer's face about it.
So what we have here is somebody who gets in a man's face when cuffed, picks offenders up bodily and throws them out, and tells others to get ahold of weapons even if they have to sell the clothes on their backs to do so. Some pacifist.
yea, well my mother always tried to instill the "turn the other cheek" philosophy in me when I was younger, it was the most common bible quote she used, so probably the only one I know. On the other hand my Fathers philosophy was "an eye for an eye", but he'd never read the bible, and I'd never heard the quote until I went to school.
