As a GOOD army 'brat,' I'd think you would appreciate Keyes' placing important emphasis on the military, especially at this time.

There are many things Alan Keyes says that I would wholeheartedly agree with. It's that I really don't like his sniping at President Bush (to be clear: I HATE IT), and to be perfectly honest with you, I think he's kind of a self-absorbed, holier-than-thou...well, jerk. That "massa" stuff and the "You don't give me face time 'cause I'm black" business during the campaign was rather off-putting to me. I think he has some great things to say. I also think he would make a dreadful, divisive president. But I love it when people give the men and women in military service their proper respect and attention, as you suggested - yes, I do like that.

I appreciate your response. Alan sees things very clearly, I think, which teaches, more than creates a false unity, which leads to divisiveness on a subterranean level, rather than open airing of all opinion, not just that that we can all agree with, so that the electorate can learn to think clearly and well. Bush has created some unity with Dems, but for the most part, they are backstabbers, as we have seen, so why bother, unless it is to gradually win over some Dems, as John Breaux has been on individual tax rebates for choosing of health care plans, not some huge monolith of government for those who lost jobs. (Let him know you appreciate it, if so.) I know the liberal media did exclude Keyes from the debate in So. Carolina? I believe it was, probably so he could not reach his fellow blacks in the south, in his 1st presidential run. For that reason, alone, it was depriving blacks, including himself, so I would not hold that against him, with that understanding in mind. Do remember he was the favorite of all the presidential debaters the 2nd time, by many polls. yet he was not allowed in the debate building. People appreciated him for the insights he gave them. I was not happy to see Bush snigger when Alan promoted his debating skills BECAUSE Larry King did not direct any questions to him in the triple interview with McCain. Bush did that several times, was not taking him seriously as part of that debate (although Alan would have played more fairly with him as an opponent than McCain subsequently did). I know Keyes was not as much in the game then after McCain won N.H., but he could have clarified and enlightened many issues and it was not right to ignore him, again the lib media at work. I believe Keyes is the better policy maker, but that may not have worked well in the Chinese plane downing, who knows. [Sorry it's so long; It won't take paragraphs.]
