Fair is fair, after all.
I didn't see that before, so thank you for calling it to my attention. I assumed you were upset because you seemed to think Dan was suggesting you really were part of a full-blown cult - but I think he said what he did to simply illustrate the blind devotion many people seem to have toward the man. You don't believe he really thinks it's a cult in the literal, religious sense, do you? I don't know why it would push such a button unless you thought he did - and I honestly don't think that was his intent.
And I think he has a point with the blind devotion. Few Keyesters seem to be able to see anything negative about him at all, and they treat those of us who do as though we've done something unforgivable. That is, to me, bordering on dysfunctional.
One more time: I never denied I was referring to Bush. I did deny mentioning his name because I didn't. And I explained to you numerous times why I intentionally avoided mentioning his name--posts 520; 525; 532.
BTW, Dan didn't use the word cult---but he used the term "Keyes Kultists".
As to pointing out Keyes faults, I leave that to others...many here think it is a sport.
In case you haven't noticed, there are many here who, if they could, would destroy Alan Keyes.
Considering the fact that the man is one of the most articulate spokesmen for constitutional conservatism in America today, it is not healthy for the conservative movement, for the GOP, or for our republic, for that effort to go unchallenged.

If you're not willing to get into an extensive argument, why do you hang around FR?!!
;-P
Whoopee....I get to chime in with my interpretation of what someone said....and I base this not on a grin, a nod of the head, a wink, a shuffling of feet, or body language.
It is my opihnion that Keyes for President said Wha..? or Whoa...? Bush?? because first of all he had not uttered a name (he was being tactful or discreet )--in which case, new or converted from liberalism readers might well not have any inkling as to who was being referenced. Secondly, he is trying to deny that he used the name, which is the truth....he did not attach a name to anyone that belonged to a secret society, who was considered a party animal, or class clown, or less likely to succeed, who had offspring that followed in their Daddy's footsteps, or any of those other terms that the general population is unfamiliar with.
I see no reason to believe differently, and I believe you are wrong to not see it MY way. :)
Well, not unless, of course, you saw the way he smiled...in which case you can explain to me how you interpret his smile!!!
I am merely pointing out that the relationship between Keyes and Kristol went on after they graduated, and in fact after they had been in the public arena for many years.
Other than that, I have nothing else to say.
Approximately 24 hours ago, I posted a note advising you that DAVID HOROWITZ, one of the chief engineers of George W. Bushs "compassionate conservative" crusade, is involved a critical effort to change the fundamental direction of our nation.
As I pointed out to you yesterday, until now, most Americans have been forced to watch our country and its culture drift further and further to the left. Not knowing the true reasons for this degeneration, we have felt helpless to stop it. We have wasted our time and our money supporting political candidates who have cynically sold us false promises about their ability to restore true American values. Now, after years of investigation and with precious little time to spare, DAVID HOROWITZ has finally found the ACTUAL SOURCE of this foul tide. Armed with irrefutable proof, he has exposed the CONSERVATIVE HOLOCAUST that has until now been secreted behind the tall, ivy-covered walls of academia.
Freepers, I personally urge you to support Mr. Horowitz's campaign in every way possible. Forget the politicians. Instead, speak to your neighbors. Form committees. Demand to see what is actually written in the textbooks given to our kids. Write letters demanding protection for conservative students and faculty. Show up at David's campaign stops. Visit Frontpagemag.com. Finally, and most importantly, I urge you to immediately send David as much money as you possibly can to save our Christian conservative values from extinction. And please, FReepers, DIG DEEP because this is no time for half measures.
Forget about Keyes. Join DAVID HOROWITZ, a winner!
With David's leadership, we can and we will DEFEAT INTELLECTUAL TERRORISM and save our country from the evils of FULL BLOWN SOCIALISM.
Thank you, America, LET'S ROLL!
Its been quite interesting visiting with DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet--by the way, she was today's winner....a really nice lady with a few quirks... like being willing to cut slack for friends while having a hard time with that same slack for 'others'.
Regardless, she's been doing yeoman's work in keeping the thread bumped. With luck, by the time his program is ready to air, there will be well over 1,000 hits. Exposure is the key! :)
You're not the only one that cringes when the man speaks.... :)
Considering the fact that you are a Christian, and a FReeper, I have no doubt that we agree about far more than we disagree.
I hope the fact that we got off to a bad start with one another won't stand in the way of finding out in the future. :-)

(and good night to all)
Oh for crying out loud.....we should be following the little fat lefty and his idea of values and morals? Puleezeeeeeee......give us a break....follow a lefty!
I don't know who you're talking about (so I guess I haven't noticed), but that's not how I feel.
Oh, my. My ears are burning again. Now, if I talk about you to other people instead of directly to you, are you more likely to read it? Or is this good?
I hope so. Here goes:
It's not about slack, and I am not part of any FR cliques. I never saw the word "Kult" until EV pointed it out to me (when I thanked EV for doing so), and even the word "cult" is subject to multiple interpretations - and I think it was used in a most benign way.
Example: I like the President. If someone accused me of being in a "Bush Kult", I wouldn't particularly care. I'm secure in my Christian faith, and in context, the word has no religious connotation. What's to be offended about? I like President Bush. So what?
"Secret societies" was clearly a reference to the President, as anyone who follows politics and would darken FreeRepublic's door knows (hardly a subtle reference). There is only one person KFP could have been talking about. There is only one thing KFP WAS talking about. To be coy about it ("When did I say Bush?", to paraphrase) was disingenuous. It's not complicated, Rowdee - but you may have the last word (and I know you will, though probably to someone else, and not to me) because I'm tired of trying to explain the distinction. I'll just let it go now.
Considering the fact that you are a Christian, and a FReeper, I have no doubt that we agree about far more than we disagree.
I hope the fact that we got off to a bad start with one another won't stand in the way of finding out in the future. :-)
Agreed on all points, EV. Very nice talking with you. Good night.
