TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - The 15-year-old who crashed a small plane into a skyscraper wrote a note expressing sympathy for Osama bin Laden and support for the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, police said Sunday.
Tampa Police Chief Bennie Holder said there was no evidence Charles J. Bishop had terrorist ties. Holder said Bishop was a loner with few friends, and that the boy wrote that he acted alone.
"Bishop can best be described as a young man who had very few friends and was very much a loner," Holder said. "From his actions we can assume he was a very troubled young man."
Bishop crashed the Cessna 172R into the 42-story Bank of America building after taking off without authorization and ignoring signals to land from a Coast Guard helicopter that pursued the plane. He was killed.
Investigators on Sunday interviewed the family of the student pilot and said they would search his personal computer for evidence.

We know about Walker's parents. For all we know, Charlie's parents may be flaming Marxists. So what if some conservatives happen to live in the general area. Does logic escape you?
But they do. There is a HS teacher over by Tampa who has been the subject of several threads on FR. He is involved with the IAC, A.N.S.W.E.R and their protests against the war. Anyone recall the guy's name or the HS he teaches at?
No, I just find it ironic that when John Walker was caught fighting with the Taliban, Conservatives blamed his liberal upbringing in Marin County. However, now when I kid from Conservative Tampa, Florida crashes a plane into a skyscraper is support of bin Laden no one here is willing to blame his conservative upbringing.
Will they be charged with harboring a terrorist?
They said the note was found on his body. Guess he thought his body would survive in one piece.
Wonder if he left a note at home for his mother and grandmother.

I had that same gut reaction. It's not every day a plane flies into a skyscraper. I read hundreds of posts on the main thread on this story yesterday and post #192 particularly stayed with me:

If it happened with Walker why would it be so far fetched or conspiratorial to think there aren't more troubled, easily influenced teens out there being infiltrated. The flight schools played a major role in what happened on Sept. 11. That connection alone leads one to infer that this wasn't an accident.
Sponging a story from one news source and attributing it to their competitor is simply pathetic.
