"Christ warned against repeating prayers over and over, and referred to those who do so as "pagans." So much for "Say 3 'Our fathers' and 6 'Hail Marys'."

Where in "scripture" does it say this? Interpretation of the Holy Bible is subjective.

The Catholics believe in the Douay-Rheims version of the bible. Unlike the King James version, it is a "faithful translation into English of the Latin Vulgate Bible which St. Jerome (342-420) translated into Latin from the original languages." (quoted from the "Preface.") It has not been "sanitized" and re-translated and slanted so that Scripture can be quoted to fit what you NEED it to fit.

Catholicism evolved from Judaism 2000 years ago. Protestantism broke away from Catholicism 500 years ago. And you have the GALL to infer that Catholics are pagans?

I think you meant "imply." And no, I do not imply this.

I state it as fact. Simple, unadulterated, inarguable fact. Your lack of familiarty with Jesus' teachings speaks for itself. Read your Bible, and you won't have to ask me where Jesus said this.

God bless you.

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Where in "scripture?" Jesus says in Matthew 6:7, "But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking."

Interpretation of the Holy Bible is subjective.

Oh, really? Subjectivity is a cause of great confusion. If it is indeed "subjective," then no one is right and no one is wrong.

The Apostle Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 14:33 that God is not the author of confusion.

MATTHEW 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
MATTHEW 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

AV -- use vain repetitions (1)
1a) to stammer
1b) to repeat the same things over and over, to use many idle words, to babble, prate. Some suppose the word derived from Battus, a king of Cyrene, who is said to have stuttered; others from Battus, an author of tedious and wordy poems.

Interpretation of the Holy Bible is subjective.

cathlolicism is a melding of 4th century roman paganism and supposed "Christians" who chose to betray the Gospel in order to save their lives.
I'll give you the same challenge I give other members of your cult: Show me where in the Bible Jesus or any of the Apostles ever "venerated images" (engaged in idolatry) or taught anyone else to do so.

It's ok dansangel ... ignorance is as ignorance does. Talking to someone close minded like Dynamo would be a precious waste of time. I would love to read the rest of these posts but have to get to work instead. I agree very much with what you said. It seems some people just love to stir the pot unnecesssarily. (psssst ... don't tell dynamo that St Peter was the first pope and he was the very same Peter who was the disciple of Jesus.) I will read this in it's entirety when I get home. Have a good day!
