Uh, it is the completed Canon? how does that suffice. No it doesn't suffice. Who's "Canon?" Canon Law of the Catholic Church... or Calvin's Canon Law?
If it's Calvins...then it's not according to the teachings of My Catholic Faith nor is it in keeping with the Scriptures... Prove to me you are using THE VERSION authorized by CHRIST JESUS through the Church He founded!

In the St. Bartholamew (sp??) Day Massacre, the French Catholics murdered some 100,000 Heugonots in the course of a week or so, and this not in war time (though in other religious wars many Protestants had been slaughtered-I will look up numbers if you wish). Pope Gregory XIII was overjoyed, and struck a commerative metal for the event, along with much loud rejoicing in Rome. It was not one of the brightest periods in Roman Catholic history. As you know, the Huegonots, who were quite numerous for a time in France, where driven out, settling all over the world, including America. Considering many were known as skilled craftsmen, it was a boon for other nations.

I think I can unify with the Catholics here at bashing this one.

I understand that God is omniscient and KNOWS who will accept the Christ and who will not. I don't think that equals God creating human beings just to be damned without ever giving them a chance to believe in Him. Of course, we'll have to agree to disagree. It much more pleasant than tearing out each other's throats.

I was wondering when the Baptists would show up.

I must admit I find it funny the anabaptists somehow think they are God's truth when many are rather liberal.
To: Viva La Homeschool
Don't bother posting anything to me. You showed your heart on the other thread where you suggested that the murder of my loved ones was justified because of their religion.

ALways take two Baptists fishing with you.
If you take one, he'll drink all the beer.

Catholics practice a cultic paganism created by men who sought to use religion for their own worldly power. When and by whom was the allegedly false Catholic religion created? What year did it split from the True Church founded by Christ and his apostles?
Did this ever happen? Prove it!!
Alert: VLH is a rabid anti-catholic bigot - her "homepage" is home to a plethora of anti-catholic diatribes that would make jack chick blush.
(She will undoubtedly and erroneaously point out that I am lying about her homepage; but go to FR homepage, then click on the www homepage she lists there. Once at her home page, look at the top and click on "Apostasy" and then click on "Roman Catholicism" and see what you get. It is ugly. She hates Promise Keepers and Billy Graham, too - why? because they like Catholics!)

The wackos in Northern Ireland were not commisioned by any large Protestant body, whereas in most atrocities commited by Catholics in the name of religion, the Church was often behind it and encouraged it. Of course, Protestant bodies got in on the act, though the Catholic Church, I think its fair to say simply because they were around longer and had a longer reach if nothing else, were better at it. One would expect as much with the rather centralized form of the Church. Many a Pope of years past arose that probably cared little for God, the Church, or anything else, but very dearly for power and wealth. One would not expect such people to abstain from weilding the power of the Pope (particularly when he controlled large areas of the Western World!) as he pleased and to his benifit.

I am so sorry you had to hear that....I have very heavy disagreements, but I can't believe anyone would support the killing of another for his religion (this is COMPLETELY unibiblical and how anyone like that viva fellow can say otherwise is just very sad to me).

When the crumbling Roman Empire discovered that Christianity (which would not go away it seemed through persecution) could be used as a handy tool. You can not convince me that the multitudes brought into the Church because it was state law were all sincere converts and adamant on not introducing any form of their old beliefs.

When I lived in Germany, my city's church steeples had metal cages hanging from them. They were used by various protestant sects to hang their Protestant enemies high above alive - left to wither until they died.
I suppose it was just Protestants making sure other Protestants had the correct beliefs.
Apparently back then Protestants were not free to church hop within Protestantism like they are now. (Or at least if you did church hop you had to have an army to defend you from your old minister's posse.)

Wow, that's original: crack a joke as a retort. Insult are all you stupid bigots can ever contrive, because you're to simple minded to think of anything else!
< humor > Just had to say that once. And for the record, most Baptist I know (myself being one of them, either hide the beer or don't drink it, or go over to our Catholic and Methodist buddies's houses. They say the Catholic Church up the road sells wine and other beverages at their fundraisers... (though one of my Catholic friends complained bitterly over that)

"I think I can unify with the Catholics here at bashing this one." Well you may have differences...but we Catholics don't like to "Bash" anyone.
We don't like it almost as much as we don't appreciate people who jump on our threads and try to ridicule our faith, our Pope, or our Church.
Viva: You need to go back to the beginning and read the entire article... we'll give you a written test later to see if you actually read it. :)

I greet and ask my friends for thier prayers for my salvation ALL THE TIME.Hi Notwithstanding! I have a question, no Catholic bashing intended from this Independent Baptist, but one thing struck me about your post, could you clarify please? Why do you feel it necessary to ask your friends to pray for your salvation? Aren't you already sure of your eternal destiny, or am I misunderstanding the intent of your words?
Thanks much. Your statement just jumped out at me. And thanks for your abortion threads/posts - I appreciate them very much when I catch them.
