So this thread is the work of the guy who just got a bunch of posters banned on FR for supposedly bashing Catholics. Any Protestant would be highly offended by this thread. This is just as I suspected. proud2brc baits people who are not Catholic just so that he can get them banned. I personally have nothing against Catholics at all. Except when they are like this person and think they are so much better than everyone else. And then twist everything around to make it sound like they are ones getting bashed. There was a time when people were to wise to be taken in like this. This guy is smiling all the way to confession. No doubt.

Actually, the only time I ever did that was on the very thread were Jim Robinson said to knock it off. I never did it on this thread, or any other thread on Free Republic.

I found it highly hypocritical that Catholic bashers, on the very thread where they were instructed to stop bashing Catholics, were thumbing their noses at Jim Robinson, insulting him and his moderators, and continuing to bash the very groups Jim specifically told them to stop bashing. They kept on bashing despite Jim's repeated warnings to stop. So they were banned.

That entire thread was pulled.

It has nothing to do with this thread, which preceded Jim's thread.

If I were to start this thread again today, I would have to be more careful in what I said, but these new guidelines came after this thread was finished.

Sorry, there's no connection between the two, Revel. You came too late to this party.

"Sorry, there's no connection between the two"

My guess is that things that were said on this thread have something to do(not everything) with some people leaving for religious bashing in the first place. And also who is to say that if this thread had never been posted then the hard feelings that led up to the thread by JR might never have come to the point of JR posting that thread? This is all I have to say on the matter.

Honestly, the original title of Jim Rob's thread was chosen very aptly, "A word of caution regarding the bashing of Mormons, Catholics, Jews, anyone at all on Free Repub." It was Mormons, Catholics, and Jews that were leaving because of "bashing."

Only after about 1100 posts was the title changed to "A word of caution regarding the bashing of Mormons, Catholics, Jews, Calvinists, Baptists....." because of complaints from those camps that while Mormoms, Catholics and Jews specifically could not be bashed, now it seemed it was OK to start bashing Calvinists and Baptists. This was after my thread was "over."

Originally, it was quite clear that the folks that were specifically being bashed were Mormons, Catholics, and Jews.

Now that being said, I would ask you to simply read this thread carefully, paying close attention to my many posts. I was specifically commended on this thread for being patient, charitable, and not baiting or bashing.

I'm making some tough, unpopular statement about abortion and its roots, but I am not bashing protestants.

Even the opening article bends over backwards to be meek and mild so as to not insult protestants by its message.

Have an open mind. Read the thread.

Do not judge me by my behavior on the other thread.

I was simply taking out my frustrations on a few Freepers who have dogged me and other good Catholics here and bashed our faith at every turn, thread after thread, here on Free Republic, for many months now.

Every man has his breaking point. I reached mine on that thread, after being so calm and civil for almost a month on this thread.

There is no longer such a thing as protestantism. I'd say that the final classic counter-catholic protest was in the 1700's.

Christianity today, however, is a religion with a variety of denominations. There are even some of those denominations that have historic roots in the protest movement of the 1500s to 1600s. Many of them, however, have absolute nothing to do with that period of protest.

This scholar can say all he likes about protestantism, but if he doesn't address the doctrinal reasons for the proliferation of numerous christian churches, then he has only addressed a moment of history from 1500-1700 that no longer exists.

Are you offering Jack ChiKK comics as real Christian evangelization tools, or an example of the type of bashing Jim Rob was discussing on the other thread?

I've read many anti-Catholic Jack ChiKK comics. Some poor deluded soul leaves all the anti-Catholic ones in my patient waiting room, because I've gotten a reputation locally for bringing Catholics back to the faith and bringing in converts to the faith.

I collect them, and when my three home schooled young children come to visit, I read them to them to illustrate that there are poor souls out there who hate Jesus Christ and His Church.

Then we take them out back and solemnly burn them on the back sidewalk.

It helps my children to know that there are bad people out there, or just people who ignore the Truth, and we don't know why, and that we have to pray for them but never be deceived by their lies and deceits.

Thank you! I've got to spend some more time on this thread, but it looks like just the thing I was looking for. I hope you had a blessed Easter with your family and your parish. God bless!
