Bill O'Reilly blasts Ashcroft and Reno for Corruption
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | January 4, 2002 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 01/04/2002 8:52:30 AM PST by editor-surveyor

There is something very wrong inside the Justice Department of the United States and there has been for some time.

Various newspapers are now reporting that under President Clinton, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was ordered to stand down on various terrorist investigations.

One of the most egregious examples is the failure of the bureau to investigate fundraising organizations like "The Holy Land Fund," based in Arizona, which allegedly funneled millions of dollars in donations to Middle Eastern terrorists.

Although the Bush administration has now frozen the assets of the fund, it was apparently allowed to operate for 8 years despite the FBI intelligence that was presented to Mr. Clinton and then-Attorney General Janet Reno. One bureau source told the press that Ms. Reno felt any investigation of "The Holy Land Fund" would lead to anti-Arab sentiment and therefore was opposed to such an investigation.

As always, Ms. Reno will not comment on any aspect of her tenure as attorney general that is at all controversial.

There is no question now that under Ms. Reno and then-FBI Director Louis Freeh, Americans were put at great risk. The Wen Ho Lee-Chinese espionage case still has not been explained, and the fact that the 19 Sept. 11 terrorists weren't even on the FBI's radar screen is about as frightening as Janet Reno's passion for political correctness.

The current attorney general, John Ashcroft, has made no attempt to examine Ms. Reno's bizarre behavior or update the public about the Marc Rich investigation or anything else. Mr. Ashcroft specializes in looking dour and stonewalling. While Congress is attempting to get documents about President Clinton's dubious foreign fundraising and FBI abuses in Boston, Ashcroft is refusing to cooperate at all.

And this isn't a political issue. Conservative Congressman Dan Burton and liberal Congressman Barney Frank have actually joined forces to try and pry this information from Ashcroft's hands. If that's not amazing, then nothing is.

The truth is that for nearly 8 years, the Justice Department has been corrupt and inefficient. Janet Reno botched nearly every important decision she had to make including Waco and Elian Gonzalez. Time after time, Ms. Reno refused to approve investigative initiatives sought by the FBI. And time after time, Mr. Freeh sat in his plush government office refusing to let the American people know what was happening.

Now Mr. Ashcroft is doing the same thing. There is no reason on this earth why the public should not know the status of the Rich pardon probe. Or the anthrax investigation. And what about Enron, Mr. Attorney General – are you going to look into that? Millions of Americans were hosed while some Enron executives made millions.

How about a comment on that, Mr. Ashcroft?

Here is the whole article.

Hillary must still be holding the FBI files in her closet.

Uh-oh!!!! The FBI files excuse for all things done that we don't like has reared its ugly, and fantasized imaginary head again.

I don't buy it.

I suspicion that the degree of foreign government infiltration and the embedded government bureaucrats who are dedicated to their own anti-U.S. agenda are such that the whole truth cannot be told at this time, if ever....

It will take years to root out the rot that has permeated our leadership down to the local levels.

And how will we ever root out the rot if "they" don't let us know about it?

It has been strange watching the new administration tip-toe around all these unanswered questions.

The shame doesn't lie with Mr. O'Reilly or his opinions. It rests on the US Department of Justice and John Ashcroft.

He has backpedaled on every meaningful investigation into the outrages under his predecessor and in turn her predecessor.

You are exactly right.

The vast majority of "us" do NOT believe that the Bush administration is covering up for Bill Clinton.

I'd agree that they are not "covering up". OTOH, it is clear they are ignoring the corruption of the Clintons anf their criminal gang. It is clear they have chosen, at least to this point, not to pursue justice in those matters. That is different from "covering up" and less distasteful, but distasteful nonetheless.

I might even agree with you. I'm willing to wait and see what they may be doing that we don't know about.

That question has already been answered:

Of course Ashcroft is covering for the previous administrations corruptions. Notice his total lack of any effort to investigate ANYTHING. Count the number of things he was supposed to investigate that he's let go by without so much as a glance:

Waco
Ruby Ridge
Reno (just about everything)
nuclear espionage

Tell you what, Ashcroft may very well prove to be WORSE than Reno. He comes in under the guise of a committed Christian, conservative, dedicated to the Constition, meanwhile he is working hard at increasing the power of the federal thugs we call the FBI and ATF. At least we know Reno was evil. As it is, we may very well see our 'friend' John Ashcroft putting the final nails into the coffin of the Bill of Rights before his term is over.

Are you willing to wait until the statutes of limitation have all run out?

Well then, I'll agree with you! Ashcroft & Co. have been busy with more important matters since 9/11. I'm not optimistic, however, but hope that if some of us keep this matter in view, it might help to encourage them a bit....and what more can we do?

All of you? How many of you were there anyway? (Keyes supporters)

LOL. Well, I was/am one. Even got petitions signed, etc. However, I am also a Bush fan (and a Howlin fan, too). I, and perhaps you too, am a little surprised that Clinton seems to be getting a pass from Bush. I at first attributed it to his policy of concentrating on what he wanted to get done rather than getting bogged down in accusations of partisan politics and Clinton bashing. He was also trying to "set a new tone" in Washington.

It is hard to fault the political accumine of his advisors. They are very skilled and have been very successful. However, I think they may have missed the depth of our resentment of how the Clintons and the Democrats had trampled on the Constitution, laughed at the concept of law and order, were total hypocrites, and were in fact traitors. We don't want that sweptunder the rug. My hope, though dim, is that some of this will start coming out at election time.

I am not one of those conservatives that believes everything in the Bush camp is good. I thought Ashcroft would be excellent, but there are some issues where I feel he could be better. Frankly, the current government isn't conservative enough for me. I want the EPA gone. I want the US out of the UN, and vice versa. I want the Constitution strictly upheld and the "shall not be infringed" part of the 2nd amendment ahered to. I want Clinton et al invetigated properly and charged for treason and murder. I want the US to start bombing IRAQ, and any other country involved. That's just a start....

This is the way DC runs regardless of who is in power. They will always cover for themselves as well as big business.Their is something about the Presidents that wont allow them to go after each other. Also Bush will cover for Clinton the way they did his dad.We no longer have statesmen, we have all politicians in DC. The whole political system in this country from bottom to top is corrupt.

Relating to your link:
The Mohammad Atta story was smelly from the outset. He reportedly was a real Forrest Gump, appearing eveywhere and attracting attention as he went.
Why would Atta, or his dead ringer, land his plane in Copper Hill TN, and ask suspicious questions with a thick accent about the nearby hydroelectric dam. Copper Hill has a population of 650 and is situated in the whitest county in the southeast. Why would some one go to such great lengths to attract attention?

P.S. Has anyone established the accurate identities of the 911 pilots?

"It has been strange watching the new administration tip-toe around all these unanswered questions."

It's my assertion he's had to, "tip toe" around what must look like a bombed-out ruins complete with concealed, armed landmines everywhere.
~After the past 8 year administration raped, pillaged & burned everything in sight & were shamelessly covered by the Socialist, quisling media dogs!!? (~& still are long after they've been vanquished?)

If I know NOTHING a'tall?
I *do* know this generation's people hate pain & dispise bad news that much more.
Today's people will excoriate any idiot dumb enough to tell 'em "No"; nevermind anything *really* nasty.
US citizens have been conditioned to MURDER the messenger; does the name, Newt Gingerich ring a bell?
It should & nothing's changed; no, I'd dare say things are worse than when they lynched ol' Newt.

I can just see Dubya now going on live TV for the State-of-the-Union Address & opening-up with something like:

"The people of this nation, unfortunately & through NO FAULT of their own, were decieved on a number of levels and by a number of institutions into voting the worst criminal enterprise in the history of the Republic to our highest office for two consecutive terms; & NOW WE ALL have an expectation the devastating damage can ALL be cleaned-up painlessly & quickly.
My fellow citizens, it's long overdue you heard some truth & I am profoundly sorry to have to be the one to now have to tell you; it simply cannot be done.
Not without REAL sacrifice & major overhauls of this government top to bottom!"

[paraphrased: you all were hapless suckers; regardless of what ABCNBCCNNCBS-NY&LASlimes, WA COMPOST HEAP, ATLANTA URINAL & CONSTIPATION said to you to the contrary all along.]

...now our POTUS may promply bend-down to kiss his butt g'bye, eh?

Is our goal to find blame or to fix the problems? Why should we spin our wheels on past issues which will have no chance for resolution. If congressional cooperation is required, will Dashole even put this on the Senate agenda? Do you see the mess we'll be in if the press spins any investigation to the detriment of Bush's economic agenda? I think we need to look at the big picture, move on, spend time and $$ on an agenda that will help.....be pragmatic about our state of affairs. Does Toricelli - or whatever he is - ring a BELL?????

What I still do not understand is that the Justice Dept, in just a few months, has been very successful in tracking down the terrorist organizations. However almost a year later nothing has been done about klinton, hitlrey or anyone involved with Chinagate. Now reno is running for office and if hitlrey ends up running in '04 for President it will be because this Justice Dept failed to do it's job.

You don't know how very much I have been hoping that 43's administration is busily compiling reams and reams of irrefutible facts to present about these dimwits! The timing on Reno could be well-calculated. Let the Dims be forced to throw their full support behind Janet dRano. Then come out with damaging evidence against her! FL will be safe! (One would hope!!)
