Bill O'Reilly blasts Ashcroft and Reno for Corruption
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | January 4, 2002 | Bill O'Reilly

Posted on 01/04/2002 8:52:30 AM PST by editor-surveyor

There is something very wrong inside the Justice Department of the United States and there has been for some time.

Various newspapers are now reporting that under President Clinton, the Federal Bureau of Investigation was ordered to stand down on various terrorist investigations.

One of the most egregious examples is the failure of the bureau to investigate fundraising organizations like "The Holy Land Fund," based in Arizona, which allegedly funneled millions of dollars in donations to Middle Eastern terrorists.

Although the Bush administration has now frozen the assets of the fund, it was apparently allowed to operate for 8 years despite the FBI intelligence that was presented to Mr. Clinton and then-Attorney General Janet Reno. One bureau source told the press that Ms. Reno felt any investigation of "The Holy Land Fund" would lead to anti-Arab sentiment and therefore was opposed to such an investigation.

As always, Ms. Reno will not comment on any aspect of her tenure as attorney general that is at all controversial.

There is no question now that under Ms. Reno and then-FBI Director Louis Freeh, Americans were put at great risk. The Wen Ho Lee-Chinese espionage case still has not been explained, and the fact that the 19 Sept. 11 terrorists weren't even on the FBI's radar screen is about as frightening as Janet Reno's passion for political correctness.

The current attorney general, John Ashcroft, has made no attempt to examine Ms. Reno's bizarre behavior or update the public about the Marc Rich investigation or anything else. Mr. Ashcroft specializes in looking dour and stonewalling. While Congress is attempting to get documents about President Clinton's dubious foreign fundraising and FBI abuses in Boston, Ashcroft is refusing to cooperate at all.

And this isn't a political issue. Conservative Congressman Dan Burton and liberal Congressman Barney Frank have actually joined forces to try and pry this information from Ashcroft's hands. If that's not amazing, then nothing is.

The truth is that for nearly 8 years, the Justice Department has been corrupt and inefficient. Janet Reno botched nearly every important decision she had to make including Waco and Elian Gonzalez. Time after time, Ms. Reno refused to approve investigative initiatives sought by the FBI. And time after time, Mr. Freeh sat in his plush government office refusing to let the American people know what was happening.

Now Mr. Ashcroft is doing the same thing. There is no reason on this earth why the public should not know the status of the Rich pardon probe. Or the anthrax investigation. And what about Enron, Mr. Attorney General – are you going to look into that? Millions of Americans were hosed while some Enron executives made millions.

How about a comment on that, Mr. Ashcroft?

Here is the whole article.

I've contradicted myself in the past. I'll do so again in the future. Quit the nit-picking, that's all.

This is a discussion and opinion site. Read the dialogue and speak your thoughts without being afraid to be corrected.

That's what this website is all about. My opinions aren't carved in granite. I'm all ears.

Who's "picking nits" Fred? I am asking questions and trying to understand some things. If that BOTHERS you, overlook it.

"...Listen to palo. She knows the deal."

Hey Fred, Do you mean that she is a DOJ spy ? Now, that would be reason for concern.

"We have an extraordinary man at the helm of our government now -- who is capable of carrying out whatever he wants I don't think he is a phony and if he truly understood clinton, the clinton corruption, and all that took place the way BeAChooser does and that DC Democrats are not Texas Democrats because they have joined clinton's corruption he would share my priorities."

palo, let me get this straight, you and BeAChooser have a better and more thorough understanding of Clinton, his corruption and democrats than the Presidnet of the United States of America has ? Is that what you are saying ? The President with a BS from Yale, an MBA from Harvard, the son of a President, a former Governor of Texas, a former Major League Baseball owner doesn't have the grasp on the situation that you and BeAChooser have ? Is that a fact ?

I would say to you, hold him accountable yes, but at least see what is accomplished after all positions have been filled and he has had an opportunity to replace many of those in positions that are still sympathetic to the Clintons and Democrats.

Well my response is NO EXCUSES ...

and to point out that by the time Bush finally gets around to filling all the positions there will probably be nothing left to prosecute because the DOJ will have rolled over on everything important. For example, today in a CIVIL suit LORAL was fined $14 million dollars for their activities in Chinagate ... in exchange for the DOJ agreeing not to pursue them CRIMINALLY. They got off with LESS than a slap on the wrist (remember, the CEO of Loral gave the DNC over half a million in contributions in ONE YEAR) for TREASON. And I see NO INDICATION that ANY of these matters are even being INVESTIGATED. Bush does not have to fill all the positions to INVESTIGATE. As far as I'm concerned, this is just another "move-on" EXCUSE.

Hi LetitRing
I've never criticized Bush about the war and I never will
I have friends whose sons are in it
I trust the honesty of Bush and Cheney and his Cabinet completely
I don't understand this war
but I believe they do and know what they are doing
I pray for the safety of every soldier of ours

That's not how it sounded awhile ago. You called it GEORGE'S WAR. I didn't understand that. I'm real glad to hear this, now. Thank you.

Palo, You weren't taking this personal were you ? Were you being personal ? I thought you thought the point of this thread was political debate. You didn't really think that ? You meant them when you said them to me ? :)

This is not about punishing clinton -- this is about demonstrating that no man is above the Law, and equality before the Law instead this administration is demonstrating there is one law for the rich and powerful, and another for the rest of us

Palo .. Sweetie .. as much as I would enjoy Clinton behind bars .. it's not going to happen REGARDLESS who is President .. the people of this country will not put a former president behind bars .. so it's not a matter of the rich and powerful

Hi LetitRing
the war on Yugoslavia was clinton's war
he did it to aggrandize his ego, and gratify his lust for destruction
this war now is by the USA Government
the whole government
and 90 percent of the population support it
the difference is night and day
and the intentions behind this war are for the good of the country

To: Darlin'; BeAChooser
Bush was running for Office plus was Governor of Texas
he didn't watch everything 24/7 on tv
and he didn't have the time and energy to give thinking about it his whole life
I devoted my whole life to it
I am giving him an out here -- if he understood it like BeAChooser does
it would be impossible for him not to make the choice BeAChooser is making (and me too)
Bush is not corrupt and he is not weak
what other explanation is there?
Love, Palo

If you don't remember me helping get Bush elected -- then you don't remember
It wasn't a group decision to leave TOS
I decided on my own -- the others decided to join me
I chose FR -- because I had watched FR demonstrate in DC during Impeachment
also I lurked on FR
I always had total respect for FR
the last 3 months on TOS were a drag
the solution to every problem by every poster was ''we have to campaign harder to elect more Republicans to Office and contribute more money''
I felt like I was in the Young Republicans club
The reason I joined was to join minds for truth, to save our country from clinton, and also get Bush elected President
I had a glorious experience there when we were all united for this purpose
after Bush became President -- and chose not to bring clinton corruption to Law
I no longer shared purpose with my fellow posters
Love, Palo
