THE folks at Msnbc are talking to former Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Alan Keyes about hosting a 10 p.m. show up against Fox News' new hire, Greta Van Susteren. Meanwhile, Van Susteren, a lawyer before her O.J. Simpson commentary turned her into a CNN star, reportedly has penned an eight-page memo detailing CNN's demerits. She plans to keep the document secret as long as CNN doesn't try to paint her as an ungrateful traitor.

Actually there are no human beings who have such an opinion of Dr. Keyes, only a few sub human trolls.

No need for me to add a thing. You made my point in your own first sentence.

"Alan Keyes is one of the most effective
conservative speakers that I've ever heard.
If he gets more national exposure,
there will be many converts."

Guaranteed, MrB.

If the Republican's hadn't ran
from the very idea
of a debate with Keyes,
Bush would not be President.

And the last sentence was just as reasonable: "Just where are you and your fellow servants of the Dark Lord on the list, hmmm?"

Only thing the poster forgot was to add "Hugs and kisses! You are in my prayers."

As far as I can see, Alan Keyes is the only one on that list to infer that Bush made his decision about stem cells because Bush picked EVIL over good.

Oh, thanks for clarifying :)

I don't know how someone could read these threads and not acknowledge that the "keysters" are pretty rude and arrogant folk who claim to be the most moral, most bright and apparently now, I see, the most patriotic on the planet.

It's all a house of cards, of course, because the most moral, bright and patriotic people on the planet just wouldn't treat others the way these folks do

not the ones he RAN for;
list ALL the ones you say that he has been NOMINATED for so frequently.

Instead of making lists, Howlin,
why don't you tell us why you think
that Alan Keyes is a bad guy.

Because I do not like his condescending attitude toward the people in the GOP who don't agree with his agenda.

And I don't like the fact that he insinuates that if we don't agree with him, we are somehow immoral and not "good" conservatives.

What is your point? That is what President Bush did.

Shouldn't the truth be told?

The thing is, there are only MAYBE 5 million that voted for him; so what are they saying to the other 280,000,000 people in this country? That WE are all stupid?

and that Alan Keyes has been nominated so frequently as the GOP candidate in various elections that that is one of the criticisms against him.

Actually, I wouldn't use the word "nominated". He ran as a Presidential candidate but was never nominated. He also chose to run against one of the Maryland Senators - I believe that it was Mikulski (but it could have been Sarbanes). No matter, there's not much difference).

I don't recall if he had a primary opponent, but he probably didn't.

But then it was discovered that he was paying himself about $96,000 a year out of his campaign funds. That alone kept me from voting for him.

Obviously, I didn't vote for his opponent either. I took a pass.

Am I rude?

You call me and others who support the ideas Keyes champions "Keyesters."
You say that we believe that we hold a monopoly on truth and decency.
You say that my beliefs are based on "a house of cards."

It's a simile, right?
Cards are made of paper,
the Constitution's just a piece of paper.

I think I'll stay with my truth,
unless you can give reasons, instead of slogans,
as to why I should follow the rest of the herd.

I think that Dr. Keyes is so convinced of his own intelligence and speaking ability that he is convinced that those who are not as gifted are less worthy. I think it grates him that he, the erudite and golden-tongued speaker, was rejected by the Republican party.

In fact, I think he is solely motivated now by that hurt, and he is driven to show us all that we missed our chance.

In a way, it is quite tragic. He is indeed the best extemporaneous speaker I have ever heard. He could have used this gift for so much good. But he has thrown it away with cheap shots to prove petty points.

I know that those who support him do not see it this way. That is their privilege, and they are welcome to voice their opinions as well. I have always thought that one good thing about Presideint Bush is his humility, which I saw exhibited throughout the campaign. Apparently the Keyes supporters forget that debate in which then Governor Bush showed up to debate Dr. Keyes, when there was no one left but McCain. He could have bowed out of that, since McCain didn't show up in person...but he did show up. Funny how those courtesies are forgotten.

I stand by my prediction of what will transpire on this show, given the Ambassador's behavior over the past year. If I am wrong, I will say so and apologize here.

One GOOD thing about him being on MSNBC: there will be video tapes and transcripts of every program.

[[[The thing is, there are only MAYBE 5 million that voted for him; so what are they saying to the other 280,000,000 people in this country? That WE are all stupid?]]]

That's exactly what they are saying. Not only is everyone else not as smart as they claim to be but we are also not as moral or as patriotic.

And it's also what they refuse to discuss on these threads. I sure haven't read them all, but the ones I have, the "keysters" never address what you and I are talking about -- their arrogance and put downs of everyone and anyone who doesn't agree with them --- the way they treat people -- the *how* of their message

That's why every once in while I like to point it out again -- I appreciate your ability to hang there with such committment and determination

I don't think the "keysters" are likely to change, but a lot of thinking people read these posts :)

Actually, exodus, there is no point, this throng of trolls is under the thrall of Sauron, they have seen the Ring of power, and their love of this poison makes them immune to anything else, whether it be simple human decency, or even an intelligent judgement of what they claim to be their interests or desires. They have completely lost the capability of intelligent thought, which is why they present no arguments of any kind. Did the Nazgul offer reasons for following Sauron? No more than their fellows here.

why I should follow the rest of the herd

What herd? Who are herd members.......all those that aren't Keyesters? The real truth is that Keyesters follow and hang on every "word" that a talented orator speaks. That's all there is to show to this day; words.

If all it takes are the words that tickle your ears, any clever pied piper can lead you around in perpetual circles and dip into your pockets all along they way. Where are the accomplishments? Where is Keyes' loyalty to a party whose support he is more than willing to use or abuse? If you can't see some large lapses in character because you are mesmerized by a silver tongue, perhaps you best fit the description of herd mentality.
