I'm sure many even kill them without admiting it. After all, one of those could cost a person tens of thousands of dollars. People have been killed for less. ACK! The above sentence was meant to be added at the end of the gopher tortoise paragraph!

I am from Port st lucie. I know what you are talking about. Here they have desert turtles as well as some woodpecker that is on the endangered list. Mnatees keep you from using half Floridas waterways. It just goes on and on. Then the gubmnt takes away your property rights. It's going to get worse as they try to undo the Army corp of engineers screw up of draining Florida. One of the funniest things was about 6 months ago when a govt. muckey muck was on a tour of the St, Johns river and when he came around a bend in the river his entourage came upon a 10 foot gator strung up in a tree wearing a department of natural resources jacket. Still on the endangered list, any dumb ass in florida and lousiana knows the gators aren't endangered. Taste good too.
