Torricelli 'Cover-up' Blasted

U.S. Attorney Mary Jo White's refusal to prosecute Sen. Robert Torricelli, D-N.J., "despite overwhelming evidence of his criminality, is corrupt to the core. And for the Bush Justice Department to approve White's decision shows that it has abdicated any role in fighting government corruption," the public interest law firm Judicial Watch said today.

Campaign donor David Chang says he gave Torricelli cash, suits, watches, and other gifts in return for government favors.

"As reported by The New York Times, Torricelli has repeatedly lied about his dealings with the donor. Chang was also allegedly threatened by Torricelli agents because of his cooperation with prosecutors," Judicial Watch said in a statement.

Judicial Watch also expressed outrage that Attorney General John Ashcroft's DOJ supported White's action, or rather, inaction.

"Mary Jo White, a Clinton appointee, has guaranteed herself a job in the next Democratic administration. ... John Ashcroft ought to be ashamed of himself. It seems that the Democrats and the Republicans have reached a truce - no prosecutions of corrupt politicians, whatever the party," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

"The decision not to prosecute Torricelli is the latest cover-up out of Mary Jo White's office in the Southern District of New York. White has also sat on the Pardongate scandal involving bribes to the Clintons for pardons and the Teamsters scandal which involved the stealing of union monies for the personal use of Teamsters officials and the Democratic Party," said the firm, which the liberal media like to describe as conservative even though it has come down hard on the Bush administration as well as Bill Clinton's.

This does not look good. The $50,000 illegal donor to Toricelli's campaign is convicted but they can't convict Toricellifor taking it.

Put this on top of the use of presidential immunity on former predident' records and FBI deliberation on a man who spent thirty years who the FBI knew was innocent. This is smelling as bad as Clinton.

How is this Bush's fault? He is using Democraps to prosecut Democraps to expose their criminality! No one is fooled by this. It is now being referred to the Senete Ethics Committee. This will be funny how Democraps prosecutes this one after they rehemed everyone that Bush nominated.

I think when your primary witness is a criminal (unabashed)who, arguably, can be shown to be seeking a vendetta against the defendant, you have to be a complete idiot to follow through with a criminal trial...

Try telling that to John Goddi

Well, I don't blame Bush for this....I blame the guy who made the decision in the Justice Department to go alone with Mo...forgot his name.

But, at the same time, I also see Bush as responsible in a side way and don't just let him off scot-free either.

I say we Freep the Justice Dept. and the Whitehouse.

I have to admit, I was upset when Bush did that.

I like the guy, but for once, I want somebody as prez who is not going to cover up corruption for the sake of "saving the people from knowledge in order to save the democratic process, as the people could not handle the truth."

This does not mean I dislike him....I adore the man, but I wish he had the guts to stop covering up for the previous administration.

Did you ever stop to think that the Mary Joe investigation brought nothing to Bush or Ashcroft?
If they haven't got enough evidence from DEMOCRAT INVESTIGATOR Mary Joe White, what do you all expect Bush or Ashcroft to charge him with???
You can't bake a cake if the chicken doesn't give you any eggs. White is a Democrat. She had the power to bring forth the evidence, and chose not to.
SHE chose the cover up.
"The decision not to prosecute Torricelli is the latest cover-up out of Mary Jo White's office in the Southern District of New York. None of it ever made it to Bush or Ashcroft. White and Hillary saw to that!!!
What the hell do you expect Bush or Ashcroft to do with nothing? Judicial Magic?

stay tuned. the enron follies are coming to pop prime time. and shrub (as molly the golly calls gw) as going to be singed if not burned. soon, any net searches not focusing on (by definition) right wing hate groups will return the following on 'cover-up' or 'sleaze': "g.w.bush mandated, though incompetent president of the united states harmed countless thousands with his abusive in-the-sheets good ole boy agreements with the greedy white men of texas company enron." Torricelli ? --- not even a foot-note on corruption. the play is on. the sting is in motion.
