Acting Gov. Jane Swift has chosen a 33-year-old openly gay staff member and former suburban mayor as her running mate in the 2002 election, an administration official told The Associated Press. Swift, 36, planned to announce her selection of Patrick C. Guerriero, later Thursday, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Why does it matter if he's gay? What else do you know about him, like his political leanings and his stands on various issues? That's what's important when choosing a running mate.

There are plenty of fine, right thinking citizens up here. Just not enough.

Do you think there are enough to repeal the state income tax? Did you know you will have a chance to vote on it in the next election?

How about pet lovers? They have some rights, too. What about a man and his cow, or sheep, for the governor of Massachusettes?
The guy from Gateway doesn't hide his love for a cow, but he's actually funny. I don't think he's actually in love with it; too bad, it would be a first. Not yet Governor, but close enough.

People live in Mass.....on purpose??

Don't rub it in. We suffer enough as it is. Besides, it's a dirty job that someone has to do. Be thankful it's not you!

I live in Massachusetts about 30 miles NW of Boston. I wouldn't live anywhere else. We have the best schools, the best hospitals, the best bookstores. We also have one of the best climates (we get a good taste of all four seasons). There are hundreds of great restaurants. We have four very interesting pro sports teams. The music scene is great whether you like alternative rock or classical. Lots of good museums and a lot of history. In a half hour, I can be in downtown Boston. In two hours, I can be on the Cape or in a NH ski area. In four hours, I can be in NYC or deep into Maine or Vermont.

There are also a lot of conservatives where I live. The liberal tag only applies to Boston proper and its suburbs. Outside of I-495, the state becomes decidedly conservative.

I've been to other parts of the country. New Jersey, California, Arizona, Alabama, Iowa, DC, NYC. Nothing compares to living in Massachusetts.

The mayor of my city (Tempe, AZ) is openly gay. He tried to strong-arm the United Way into not allowing city employees to make payroll contributions to the Boy Scouts, but outraged voters smacked him around good on that!!! Stopped him cold--LOL! Most voters were willing to overlook the fact that he's gay until he pulled that stunt.

This same mayor (Neil Guiliano) is an embarassing RINO Clymer who has wasted millions of tax dollars on boondoggles that are bleeding red ink all over the city. Guiliano is a hated man right now, and it ISN'T just because he's gay.

Yippee! Fisting for all and all for fisting!

LOL! That state is an absolute sewer! The saddest fact is that you the choice for governor in that state comes down to 2 things:

1) Jane Swift and her ultra liberal RINO policies, or
2) Robert "Reeeeiiiicccchhhssshhaa" Reich who is an outright communist

No wonder MA loses population every year.

That's right BSR... If more folks would have stayed and fought the battle here in Mass. Instead of cut and running to N.H. there might not be things like Fistgate going on in the schools.. But the alot of Massholes(idiots who voted Kennedys) are leaving and making the folks in N.H. miserable... So we might win this battle in the future... Yes, I'm dreaming...
