They waste the time of the cops who have to go out on domestic violence calls just to hear the pleas of the person who called, "Don't arrest him! Don't arrest him!"

An ex-cop friend of mine told me that by far the worst part of his job was showing up time and time again at the same houses on domestic violence complaints. The women almost always returned to their abusers. Some died.

Even worse, there are often children involved -- either by the abuser or from future relationships. Even if they are not being directly abused, they are forced by their dimwitted mothers to witness this violence.

Oh yeah, it's a crazy situation. A lot of states have passed laws that say, in a nutshell, if cops show up to a house for a domestic violence call, at least one of the parties has to be arrested, period. The police departments probably figure that it's better to face a false arrest lawsuit than it is to face wrongful death lawsuit.
