Former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani was expected to give his first $100,000 speech Thursday in Florida, joining the lucrative speakers' circuit, according to published reports.

Giuliani was to take a break from his vacation to appear before General Electric executives at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Florida, the Daily News and the New York Post reported Thursday.

GE spokesman Gary Sheffer declined say what Giuliani would be paid or what he would talk about.

"It's a private event," Sheffer told the News.

Two of Giuliani's former commissioners also have hopped on the speakers-for-hire bandwagon. The Washington Speakers Bureau Web site also features former Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik and former Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen.

It is unclear what fees Kerik and Von Essen will earn, but Giuliani is expected to make about $100,000 per appearance, both papers reported.

Giuliani, whose eight-year term ended Dec. 31, 2001, is scheduled to set up an office for his new consulting firm and finalize plans for a mayoral library, which will include documents from his time in office, once he returns to New York.

Clinton will blow a gasket. He seems to have a little trouble getting his fat fees speaking in the US so he wanders all over the world. Rudy on the other hand will have no trouble getting speaking engagements.

Ha! You took the words right out of my mouth!!

I think we should keep track of Rudy's speaking engagements, so that we can rub it in...you know, how prestigious the groups are, how many sold-out events, etc. Hahahaha!

I'm waiting for Clinton's nose to explode because Rudy is taking speaking engagements away from him.

What about the book deal?

If hitlary and bubba can get extreme advances for pure BS, Rudy should get much more for his book.

I may be wrong, but it seems Clinton hasn't given a speech in the U.S. in several months, and the last one may have been that debacle at Georgetown University. You're right - Rudy can write his own ticket, and he actually has something to say, unlike Bill "The U.S. Deserved It" Clinton.

Just what we DON'T need -- this officious windbag pulling a Slick Willy. In true Giuliani fasion, though, he'll screw it up. His career is littered with his vindictiveness blowing back on him.

He did a halfway decent job in NYC as mayor (largely on the backs of guys like Bratton and his assistants), but this "Apotheosis of Rudy" of late is completely unwarranted. Basically - he made a lot of speeches and went to a bunch of funerals. BFD.
