You are absolutely correct.
We are often told that immigration is beneficial to our economy--but we need to carefully examine our concept of prosperity.
The greatest prosperity is freedom.
And the more people we pack into this country, the more freedom we stand to lose.
The denser and more diverse a population, the more people will step on each other's toes, and the more they will turn to government to referee their little conflicts.
And so we get a proliferation of laws and bloated government.
Laws that penalize us for not sorting our trash, for having a fireplace, for not mowing our lawn, for not having an approved toilet, for not having pollution controls on our cars, for playing our music too loud, for having a ferret as a pet, for having an "attractive nuisance" on your property(if you store your boat in your backyard, and your neighbor's kid tresspasses and hurts himself on your boat, it's your fault), etc., etc.
Examine the election day map of November 2000, the one in red and blue, and you will see that the more densely populated areas voted for Gore and the less densely populated areas voted for Bush.
Enough said?
Good point and I think we have enough now, 200+ million is more than enough.
