The Southwestern states are in a Catch-22 situation. Illegal immigrants from Mexico are tapping the states' social services, but at the same time, the illegals play a significant part in the health of the states' economy, doing much of the difficult agricultural work that Americans choose to avoid.

Its not just agri-business any more, Dr. Many of the jobs they take merely reflect the greed of employers. Construction is a good example. Jobs that paid 15.00 to 20.00 per hour 15 years ago are now paying 6.00 to 8.00 per hour and even the foremen are generally bi-lingual, so as to be able to communicate with both the crew and the business owner.
