Oh, and I forgot. Hiring Willingham is merely a political correctness move for ND. Jesse Jackson carped at them about hiring a "coach of color" (read black) and they caved in. He could possibly be a good coach but I don't know. They are going the route of Georgetown, Villanova and some of the other ultra-liberal Catholic schools. No joy in Domeville today.

I guess instead of hiring a good, young coach, who has completely turned around a program very similar to Notre Dame they should hire some retread like Dick Vermeil, or as some of you have mentioned Lou Holtz. Willingham is a good coach who will do very well at Notre Dame. I think in a few years, you'll be quite happy.

ND does cave in to "liberal" stuff. The nuttiest was their condescension to their students (and reality) in accomodating linguistic analytic philosophers (reductionistic sophists) in their philosophy department. That and entertaining mountebank PC sourpuss Richard McBrien as a "theologian" in the theology department. What a joke!!! But that's the sad sorry history of the socialist bureaucracy of U.S. higher education, never to be confused with the actual pursuit of truth and valid knowledge. Nice campus though.
