I often wonder about that sense of history which we enjoy from our earliest childhood, where that comes from. We weren't around back then but somehow we can well sense how life was for our ancestors.

That's true. I dunno, but maybe it has something to do with some kind of "species memory?" Some sense of things past that is passed on thru our genes or something. I remember once reading a book on the Roman Empire at the time of Christ. From all that was there, I could FEEL just how it was to live then. It didn't seem all THAT different from modern times... Most int'restin'!!
