I think if there could be a reponsible challenge to the law you don't like there would have been a reversal.

Are you then prepared to ban alcohol, legal narcotics and psychedelic plants, mind-imprisoning cults and all other contributors to irrationality?

Don't forget, we'll need to ban stress, poor diet, lack of proper sleep and exercise, arguments with a spouse, etc. as these all can contribute to a lack of clear-headness. They needn't cause problems for everyone to be banned. A drug needs only to make one act irresponsibly in order for it to be forbidden to all. Ooops, almost forgot, Dan, Tom, Peter, CNN, and most Sunday morning talk shows make me so livid they'll require prohibition as well.

>>Read the platform<<

I have read the platform so many times over the years that I know it practically by heart. I guarantee you the Libertarian party advocates a constitutional government just like we had in this country before congress and the president started treating the constitution like toilet paper.

Depends on whether they are covered by this or not Hemlock:

The Congress makes the following findings and declarations:
(1) Many of the drugs included within this title have a useful and legitimate medical purpose and are necessary to maintain the health and general welfare of the American people.
(2) The illegal importation, manufacture, distribution, and possession and improper use of controlled substances have a substantial and detrimental effect on the health and general welfare of the American people.
(3) A major portion of the traffic in controlled substances flows through interstate and foreign commerce. Incidents of the traffic which are not an integral part of the interstate or foreign flow, such as manufacture, local distribution, and possession, nonetheless have a substantial and direct effect upon interstate commerce because--
(A) after manufacture, many controlled substances are transported in interstate commerce,
(B) controlled substances distributed locally usually have been transported in interstate commerce immediately before their distribution, and
(C) controlled substances possessed commonly flow through interstate commerce immediately prior to such possession.
(4) Local distribution and possession of controlled substances contribute to swelling the interstate traffic in such substances.
(5) Controlled substances manufactured and distributed intrastate cannot be differentiated from controlled substances manufactured and distributed interstate. Thus, it is not feasible to distinguish, in terms of controls, between controlled substances manufactured and distributed interstate and controlled substances manufactured and distributed intrastate.
(6) Federal control of the intrastate incidents of the traffic in controlled substances is essential to the effective control of the interstate incidents of such traffic.
(7) The United States is a party to the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, 1961, and other international conventions designed to establish effective control over international and domestic traffic in controlled substances.

Do you still have your constitution coloring book or are you just having a bad day today?

Congress passed a load of New Deal laws they claimed were Constitutional but were struck down. The Supreme Court itself declares things unconstitutional that it earlier ruled OK. Educate yourself to things that occured prior your falling off the turnip truck before slinging crap.

I often disagree with JR on forum issues, [& he doesn't care, much] ---- but we agree on the constitution. -- Wouldn't be here if it were otherwise.

You should reflect on that point, as you consistently disagree with the principles of free republic.

Why are you here?

>>The ACLU who wants to destroy America would have been trying to champion the challenge in court against the Feds to undermine this country if they could.<<

The official position of the ACLU: "The ACLU has opposed the outright criminalization of drugs since 1968, believing that the best way to deal with drugs is regulation, not incarceration."

I don't know what motivates the ACLU, but I have not heard of them coming to the aid of people busted for drugs. I am afraid they would be overwhelmed if they tried, but I don't think that is the reason. They are obviously not a very effective group on this subject.

Funny how the ones that hate the war on drugs the most end up saying some of the most violent and confrontational things.

Ha, never. Its a lot easier to just crank up what we're doing now and keep you in the cross hairs. Give the BATF more effective tools, more money, more men and bigger bounties and we're there.

Works fine under our American systems of government, unlike LP vaporware.

I think if there could be a reponsible challenge to the law you don't like there would have been a reversal.

I think we all know that doesn't always happen. There hasn't been any reversal of our gun control laws yet has there? The court generally refuses to hear any case dealing with the second ammendment, effectively annulling it.

The constitution is only as good as our honor. China's constitution guarantees them virtually the same rights as Americans. Unfortunately for them it's not worth the paper it's printed on. When we trample on the constitution in order to stop drug abuse, or save the children or whatever feel good cause is popular, we diminish all of the rights enshrined within it and if we keep going this way our constitution will be as meaningless as China's.
