Yes, Lott created a leadership slot for moderate Senator Arlen Specter after Jeffords's defection, but the Senate Republican agenda shows no signs of enlightenment. Here's your guide to bias. Moving to the left is described as being "enlightened."
I hope Jeffords gets absolutely nothing. Less than nothing. I hope he looks back on his defection as the biggest mistake in his life.

I'd wonder if the constituents who elected him to office are so unprincipled that they'd re-elect him in his present incarnation. I think it's inevitable he'll get his comeuppance next go-round. His actions are indicative of the broader problem in the Repub camp...we need to push the conservative agenda people elect us for and quit caving on those issues.

I am satisfied for now that Senator Jeffords is not reaping the rewards of his treachery, however, I will never consider his come-uppance complete until he has lost his seat over this.

Well, if it's any comfort, I heard that his wife was so horrified by his defection that she left D.C and went back to Vermont. I wonder if he ever considered how his wife might respond to his defection. After a lifetime of socializing with the repubs, now she has to switch over to the dems - Bllllaaaaaach!!
