Thanks. I'll e-mail him with the story.
I always wondered, Wife said BJU meant Beach Jumper Unit, but he never talked about anything but liberties he enjoyed. I'm the black sheep, I smoke, drink coffee, drink adult beverages. He and I got crossways on a regular basis.
The family would never show me his medals. When we buried him, I stood at attention, and was shamed for it. But, they were folding the flag to give to his widow.
The picture just reminded me of his stories about going on libery, driving boats.

3 stipes, lightning bolts, and an eagle on the other side. What you are describing is the rating insignia for an RM-1, that is a radioman, Petty Officer 1st Class,(E-6).
The other stuff sounds like unit insignia that I am not familiar with.

They seem to use the "Comedy/Tragedy" masks as a theme, whcih COULD indicate "Positive/Negative" aspects... anyway, they have lots of pictures of patches, crests, etc... for the various BJUs, and also someone there may recognize what you have described... :0)

Learned it the hard way, but you are absolutely correct.

RM-1, that is a radioman, Petty Officer 1st Class,(E-6).That would be consistant with him copying 45-60 WPM morse code in his head? He hated working CW with me because I just barely copy 13 WPM (on good days).

YES ! Hit the abuse button on EVERY profanity posted reply. I'm fed up with the fact, that so few even care about it.

Let's call a spade a spade. ONLY CERTAIN " PETS " GET AWAY WITH BLUE MUREDER. The rest, get called on the carpet for virtually NOTHING.
To: anniegetyourgun
Gee, and I thought foul language was part of the "sandbox" mentality.
Don't forget the insults, criticisms and insults ;)

...GET AWAY WITH BLUE MUREDER. What's "mureder"? Take your meds.

You shouldn't be referring to JimRob as a zipperhead.
To: Fred Mertz
You shouldn't be referring to JimRob as a zipperhead. I should have included the Full Metal Jacket alert.

Fred, if the ONLY thing you can reply to, is a typo ( it should have been MURDER ) , and then try to imply / infer some malady , that I don't suffer from, then it is YOU , and YOU alone, who have the problem. Your " SANDBOX " behavoir, has just proved the axium, of this thread.
To: Bob J
That is soooooooo funny (and appropo).

Oh, I thought the insults were just came with the territory!

Don't mind FredMertz tonight. He's having problems downloading pictures on another thread. And he's under the delusion he's met me at the White House.
BTW What in hell is blue murder??!!??
To: Fred Mertz
To shout blue murder. Indicative more of terror or alarm than of real danger. It appears to be a play on the French exclamation morbleu; there may also be a distinct allusion to the common phrase blue ruin.
