Why post this crap, when you know it is Taliban propaganda. You are helping to spread their lies.

Being a Crusader actually sounds pretty cool. We should dig up some old F-8 Crusaders and cook up some missions for them over there. It would really confuse the liberal media "everybody-is-really-the-same-deep-down" apologists.

I heard that it was actually 6,000 planes shot down and 1.5 million US troops killed. I think they are being modest. I heard it was the other way around - 1.5 million planes and 6000 soldiers. You can never trust these Jihad sites.

Yeah. And the Kung-Foo fighters with their Ninja Turtles are kicking the butts of infidels everywhere.

You really have to go to the site to experience the full depths of the author's ignorance. Check out the "farewell" message. It is so rife with inaccuracies, falsities, lies, fabrications, and misquotes that you will be stunned.
Apparently, this guy has been stuffing his hookah with some prime Afghani poppy byproducts.

time will tell who was lying and who was speaking the truth. It sure will.

"Also starred Peter Finch and Hardy Kreuger. :)"
And an OUTSTANDING performance by Ernest Borgnine!
I recommend any "Aviation-enthusiast reeper's" to find or rent this movie! It's one of the best!

Ooops...that's "Aviation enthusiast Freeper's."

"...Wow...it's been a while since I've seen that movie. I'll have to go look for it now..." Look for the dedication to the pilot who was killed flying that contraption. He crashed on landing during filming. (That's why there's no landing sequence, the Pheonix just flies out of sight over the dune at the oasis.)
Although some people believe that they actually used an engine boom from an old Fairchild to build the plane that crashed, it was actually a wood-framed scratch built that approximated the size and contours of the engine boom and wing tips. Several magazines ran articles at the time showing construction details. (sorry, can't remember which ones)
It was (unfortunately, but not surprisingly) plauged with control problems and crashed during filming.

"...I think that was the C-119..." Flight of the Phoenix featured the C-119's little brother, the C-82 'Packet'.

As far as I know, only the Navy flew the F-8's. Although, my details may not be correct Actually you are nearly correct. Only the US Navy and the French Navy have flown what is referred to by many aviators as 'the tits machine of all time.'
Speaking of the French... isn't it time we bombed those froggy bastards just on principle?
To: ericthecurdog
Upon reading more of the thread I stand corrected... the Flips and the United States Marine Corps flew the Crusader as well.
You learn something every day...

Why post this crap, when you know it is Taliban propaganda. You are helping to spread their lies. I wouldn't say 'spreading'. I would say exposing. The site is very informative as to the warped mindset of the enemy.
Stay informed.

Actually I have been a mechanic on both the A-7B (VA-93 Tonkin Gulf) and the TA4F (VT-23 Kingsville Texas), I also worked on the F9-J Cougar (VT-23 again ... before we transitioned to the A4). I also have worked on the F4, A3, A6 and the F8.
To: Tennessee_Bob
To tell the difference between the A7 and the F8 ... look for the afterburner. No burner ... A7. When on deck ... look for the hydraulic wing tilt up. Wings raised ... F8

You need to go here and read about this site you posted from. I read this on APFN. Strange. http://disc.server.com/discussion.cgi?id=149495&article=14867

Easier still, look at the length of the fuselage between the wingroot and the back of the canopy. Long fuselage, Crusader, short fuselage, Corsair II.
