I see this book burning as a simple symbolic rejection of the Harry Potter stuff. This act of defiance (Book Burning) is not "Evil" like you try to make it out to be but it is an expression of opinion by this congregation on this subject. I would like to see more of this type of protest among Christians. This is not going to deprive others from getting this book and you guys can print as many as you like. I believe that it is you guys who are misguided PC cretins and not this Church and its congregation. Harry Potter is teaching witchcraft is good and it goes against the teachings of Christ. You all need to get over it. You bow down to the one you serve and get what you deserve. As for the Christians I am sure we will do the same.

That may be how you see it, but most Americans (assisted by the media) will associate it with Nazi book-burning. And that association brings discredit to the cause of Christ.

You are correct. There are people on this thread who actually don't understand the difference between this book burning and a governmnet book burning.

You are in the minority. The rest of the world that hears this thinks the pastor is a loon and an idiot, and in most people's mind, book burnings conjur up images of Nazi Germany, even though there are differences (ie a private citizen burning a book, although announcing it to the public, and the govt. burning books) that's what the public thinks of when they hear this.

"Harry Potter is teaching witchcraft" I've got a 11 year old daughter and a 7 year old son and they both know that witches are make believe. Do you really believe in witches? It was people with your attitude who use to burn women at the stake because they thought they were witches. You need to grow up and lighten up. Start a hobby, lifes too short.

"Harry Potter is teaching witchcraft is good and it goes against the teachings of Christ. You all need to get over it. You bow down to the one you serve and get what you deserve. As for the Christians I am sure we will do the same." Im a practicing Roman Catholic, I took my sons to see the Harry Potter movie, fully expecting to dislike its messages and meaning. I was pleasantly surprised. yes, there are references to the occult. But basically it was a story of how good triumphs over evil, and the meek Harry Potter overcomes adversity to triumph over his more well to do rivals. In fact, in one scene in the movie, Hagrid the caretaker is shown dragging a Christmas Tree into the school and the "ghosts" of the graduates of the school wander around singing Christmas carols. Hardly an anti-christian movie.
