I don't disagree. However, President Bush should not be legitimizing such racist, marxist nonsense. Would you be saying the same thing if he recognized the anniversary of the founding of the KKK? Racism isn't illegal, the KKK isn't illegal, wearing stupid bedsheets on your head isn't illegal. But for the president to even give that crap the time of day is a complete mistake.
Who's rights is he failing to safeguard if he rightfully ignores Kwanzaa? Is he also failing to safeguard the rights of the KuKluxers if he fails to recognize their misguided holidays (if there are any)?
Do you get it now?
It isn't racist simply because YOU deem it to be.
The people celebrating Kwanza, misguided as they may be, are not advocating violence, like the KKK does. The people celebrating Kwanza aren't doing so while hiding behind masks, like the KKK does. The people celebrating Kwanza, aren't even advocating the violent overthrow of the American government such as the Nation of Islam, or the Aryan Nation do.
"What rights is he failing to safeguard if he rightfully ignores Kwanza?"
The KKK has no holidays, the comparison between the two is a red herring.
So, it comes down to the fact that YOU believe that Bush should have ignored the "holiday"...what good would it have served?
I know what bad could have come out of it, it would have needlessly alienated a huge segment of the American voters.
Bad move for a president to make just to appease you.
