Initial reports on FR indicated after the NK ship was sunk the survivors were left adrift because the Japs feared they had weapons in the water with them. Have you seen any reports addressing the rescue attempts or lack thereof ?

The crew probably committed suicide (as SOP for this type of mission). None of them had life jackets on. There was also an explosion which seemed to confirmed they caused something in order to destroy their ship's contents.
