Actually the miracles can and usually do come after death (intercession)... I think. But really my belief in his goodness stems from my appreciation for his efforts in freeing Poland and his efforts to bring peace to inter-religion conflicts. If anything is worthy of sainthood that should be. I'm sure those that know far more about Catholism probably have a different view of the requirements.
