Not name it claim it faith....in this world you will have many tribulations but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world..
I have Faith but Faith in Chirst and Gods plan..not faith in faith..that is a preversion of scripture
Thanks. Yes, I have that book and also "Christianity in Crisis".
One good rule of thumb to follow is to beware of the "popular" (pop-culture) preachers and churches. They have all been feminized -- "weak" in sound doctrine and giving more weight to "feelings, experiences, relationships" OVER doctrine.
Those who teach Truth will NOT be all that popular. Truth divides it doesn't *unify* - ie: light cannot be unified with darkness.
Actually...Jesus kinda started that too. :)
Matthew 21
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall move and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
When the woman touched His garment ( after saying to herself that she would be made whole if she could but touch His garment ) Jesus said, "Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith has made thee whole".
You have the centurion who sought Jesus for his servant, an example of such faith that even Jesus marvelled.
Faith is calling things that are not as if they were.
I understand what many object to in regards to many minister's teachings that if you give them 500.00 you will receive 5000.00. I think that some of these teachings do twist the biblical definition of prosperity but I also believe in the "faith movement" as spoken of by Jesus.
Matthew 21: 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Well first you need to pray as Jesus taught us to pray
Well before Matthew 21 came Matthew 6,where Jesus taught us how to pray.
Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
I think we can all be assured that if we pray in His will that every prayer we pray will be answered.
May I suggest this prayer of faith?
Heavenly Father,Lord of my life Please help me to want to want, what you want me to want Amen
When our will is in line with His great things happen!
Could I have the scripitual citation for that?
See my answer on prayer above..
I went to a church that had Benny Hinn as a regular..Faith changes nothing..it is the one in whom you place your faith that has the power. Too many of these name it claim it have great faith in THEIR faith.Faith can be a false god
Persons interpitations of Biblical text will vary somewhat. The heart of the Gospel Message however remains unchanged. It is the same now as it was 2000 years ago. The issues that have came up have came from other writtings that do support the Bible as well. These are also used as measures to translate the Bible. What happened to Christ in the three days in the tomb for example? Did he actually decend into hell? He is the concquer of death, hell, and the grave. Some teach he did go there it was not as punishment it was to preach the Gospel there as well so none have missed it. Remember every knee shall bow every tounge confess Christ is Lord? How could those who died and were sent to hell before him know him unless they were witnesses to his existance?
Whether a person agrees or disagrees to that again does not condemn their souls. Only the rejection of Christ can accomplish that. Believing either way is not a rejection of Christ. The rejection of Christ is the true unforgivable sin. That is a hardened soul {person} who's heart has become so dead they no longer hear the calling of GOD's salvation then they have indeed rejected him.
None of the ministers mentioned fit that description. I doubt one person in this thread can read Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. Therefore I doubt any to hold the exact correct interpitation of scripture beyond the Gospel of salvation which has survived intact. Why? Because it is a calling by Christ to the heart and soul. That as well can not be altered nor changed by man.
You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.
38This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40
All the other commandments and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.
These and John 3:16 are the foundation of salvation. Actually John 3:16 is the foundation of salvation and the others are commandments. The belief in this alone is the key. No other way there but through Christ. This is non debatable to most all Christian faiths. The rest that has been posted about in this thread will not get you to heaven nor will it condemn you to hell.
Don't be mislead and let an arguement on a Bible passages context destroy your faith or create doubt. Those who wish to do so are only trying to trip you up in legalisms that can not alter GOD's plan of salvation for you. It serves no other purpose but to divide the believers. NOTHING CAN PREVAIL AGAINST GOD's PLAN OF SALVATION. Remember that the next time you run into a overzealous witness and you will have the peace they are trying to take from you. Pray for them but don't let them dictate your fellowship with GOD & Christ.
Hagee pulls no punches even to his own church. What he preaches is Scripture Based. Perhaps some may have quarel with his teachings on Israel. Perhaps some to the fact he is a pre-tribulationist. I hear so much about faith in here. Yet in some I see so very little. NEWS FLASH!!! Your Christian duties is not to tear down the faith of others. Better mind your own first. Do you not belive that GOD is soverign GOD over Baptist, Catholics, Methodist, and the whole list or is he your personal churches to solely own? What man fails at GODS GRACE COVERS. Yes that includes us all where we take the Bible in a wrong reading. Otherwise we are all lost because no church soley holds the keys to heaven nor the private ear of GOD above all others. He does not repect what church you attend in the sense that he holds it above judgement.
The legalism seen here is the very same that put Christ on a Cross. The Jewish Sanhedrin of that day considered his teachings a threat as well. It was not what Rabbi taught them. My one fear in this thread has been someones faith would be destroyed by seeing it hopeless that no matter what they do it will not be enough. GOD himself gives each person their understanding of his will for them. Some need the disciplines of the Roman Catholic doctorine some the Baptist. It's GOD's bussiness to judge it. Each is Christ based and each can through scripture make their claim just as valid as yours.
No wonder non believers get discouraged when they see the likes of this. GOD granted you the Grace of Salvation. That Grace should be returned in respect to our Christian Brothers and Sisters. Christians have enough hate in this world to face without turning it on our own and yes Baptist the Catholics are your Brothers and Sisters in Christ and vice versa. I'm ashamed to say my church the Baptist is known to have one of the worst legalist doctorines in judging other Christian denominations. I lost my temper with two mainly due to having my post taken and put opposite of their meaning. One as well chooses to preach condemning another for the same. When you are quoting scripture and doctorine yes indeed it is preaching, teaching, and wittnessing. All in all it was a good debate though. Remember though those who's faith is not as strong as your own. Be carefull not to lessen it or take from them. If their convictions say this church or that church is their belief let GOD be the one through the Holy Spirit to convict them if they are in the wrong one. I have enough faith to believe he will. Do you?
I don't think the reference was to having faith in faith.....but faith in Jesus Christ (implied).
Well first you need to pray as Jesus taught us to pray
I didn't learn how to pray just the right way... before I had faith. As a new Christian... I just believed He was... who He said He was.... and got my prayers answered consistently. It's when I started listening to all the "prerequisites" that other Christians deemed necessary to prayer, that I got bogged down in my prayer life for the first time. *chuckle* James 1:6-8.
I don't believe I've ever listened to Hagee, although the name sounds familiar, but can't place him. Levitt, however, I have watched, often. I think he's great, too. I enjoy listening to his Old Testament understanding of the scriptures, even more so because of he is a born again Jew.
Both of you have added intelligent, godly wisdom and understanding to this thread, for which I thank you.
Matthew 5
21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, `Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.'
22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, `Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, `You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
I've sure seen alot of this on the board here. Scary, eh? I won't get baited into calling names and slandering those who have been put into spiritual authority. You never know what plan God has for them... and if they are of not of God, they will fall and fade away. (many have come and gone) If God IS for them....and has set them up for His Purpose... then they are coming against God Himself. Dangerous footing, there! I cannot align myself with the heretic hunters, for that reason.. (even if I may agree with them on a point or two)
Luke 9
49 "Master," said John, "we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us."
50 "Do not stop him," Jesus said, "for whoever is not against you is for you."
Happy New Year! May God bestow all His blessings on you and yours!
Excellent point!
