Don't overplay this. We don't need this stupid stimulus package to stimulate the economy. By the time the gubment gets it in place the economy will already be back and it will only have an inflationary impact.
Also, extending unemployment benefits isn't exactly a good way to get people off the couch and engaged in productive activity.

My thoughts exactly. In fact Greenspan has been slashing rates like a mad man. I am in the process of refinancing my home, along with hordes of others. Because of the appreciation in housing prices over the past few years, I will probably be able to borrow twice the amount of what I paid for the house 6 years ago at a paltry (and subsidized) 6.5% interest rate. If others are doing the same thing, we will soon be swimming in liquidity.

Hey, Henk. This package CUTS TAXES for the middle class, TWO FULL percentage points 4 years early. I know the economy will recover, but these tax cuts are needed AND deserved.
