Or, maybe it has something to do with our society and work ethic which is okay but not when it's life or death matters. We love going about our business and our desks are our second homes. A false sense of security maybe.

I saw the photo in the newspaper wherein they ran an entire page so that you could easily see the length of the building and how far these poor 3 or 4 folks in the picture were falling. I couldn't look at that photo for very long. It was too horrible and sad.
People jump from the Skyway Bridge quite often and the radio stations joke about it. The people at WTC didn't go to work for their lives to abruptly end. The Homeland Security can give me alerts any time they want to - we must still all be careful. Our borders are still too porous and except maybe for lack of funds, I am willing to bet there are still dangerous sleeper cells out there who want to do us harm. Loss of life means nothing to them.
If you saw this in person, I pray that your worst memories of that day soften so that you can feel some inner peace.

Thank you. I saw a lot in person that morning -- from right after the first plane hit until the second tower collapsed. I'll never forget it. Never.

Judging from sixmil's report, it appears to me that the people who were at work - on time - were the most diligent and proficient of the group.
For that, their reward was a morning of horror. And for too many, death. God bless them!
