Stanley Released from Jail; Charged with Violating an Unconstitutional Gun-Control Ordinance
(DENVER, CO) Libertarian candidate for U.S. Senate, Rick Stanley, was released from Denver Police custody on Sunday, December 16, 2001, at approximately 3:30 PM, after being charged with violating a local gun-control ordinance. Stanley contends the law he is charged under violates his civil rights and he will be seeking a jury trial to have the ordinance declared unconstitutional. Second Amendment supporter Duncan Philp was also arrested and faces an identical charge.
Stanley and Philp were arrested by the Denver Police, Saturday, December 15, 2001, shortly after noon, upon performing a planned act of civil disobedience by openly carrying a loaded handgun in a holster upon their hip, during a Bill of Rights rally being held in Denver's Lincoln Park. Both Stanley and Philp, stated their actions were an attempt to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and Article II Section 13 of the Colorado Constitution. They are now facing one count each of unlawfully carrying a deadly weapon in violation of Denver's Revised Municipal Code, 38-117.5(b).
Paul Grant, a civil rights attorney who will be representing both men is optimistic about their chances in court. On Saturday Grant stated, "There's absolutely no way a judge should be able to uphold Denver's ordinance in light of the state constitution". Public support and attention would be an essential part of the case, said Grant who has argued cases on several different occasions before the Supreme Court. He urged all supporters to attend these men's court dates and to speak out publicly on this issue explaining that; "Jurors must realize how important this case is".
Mr. Stanley's next court date is Wednesday, January 30, 2002, 8:30 AM, Courtroom 151P, in the County Courts Building located at 1437 Bannock Street in Denver. Supporters are requested to pack the courtroom that morning.

Start your own.
For cryin' out loud, it's just an example. I can't believe you're really that thick.
To list every example of waste in any Federal agency would take a long time. Like the 61,000+ items missing from the inventory of the INS (including 539 firearms (39 of which are fully automatic), thousands of computers, etc, etc). Or the confiscated property which the IRS took to satisfy unpaid taxes, that is now missing. It goes on and on.
Also, I would like to point out that others are already taking up the challenge to put a person in orbit, bring 'em down, and shoot 'em back up again within two weeks. There's a $10 million purse riding on it as well as probable contracts for telco companies and space tourism.
Wanna bet they pull it off well before NASA's SSTO program gets off the ground?
Why the ruckus by people like Dane and Algore? Kinda re-enforces the idea that they are shills for the Status quo. Not exactly freedom advocates by any stretch of the imagination. Who cares what party the initiator of this action belongs to? Isn't this a win-win for all people searching to restore our liberties? We need to support this guy. Not pick at each other over differences tangenial to the issue.
THat is a lie and an evil accusation that will land this nation to hell. The GOP caves in and repents, democrats never repent and practice a cult in congress. I'd rather have a feeble government lead by caving in GOPs than by rabid dems and their little libertarian Nazi helpers.
As a matter of fact, the only people that behaved after 911 were the GOP. THe libertarians and the liberals were in the same camp, gutting any sense out of government.
The definition of insantity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Same-same with our two-party system.
The argument that a vote for the Libertarians is a vote taken from the Pubbies is just idiotic. We steal from the Dems just as much so it equals out.
Now, would you like to address the issue of restoring the full force of the Second Amendment... or would you like to shout, scream, and jump around some more?
"It's democratic freedom stupid!"
No, we weren't. What the LP wanted was for the FedGov to follow the Constitution and get the Congress to declare a legal war. Failing that, they wanted Letters of Marque and Reprisal to go headhunt Osama.
The Dims just wanted to crawl into a hole, forget all the bad things, and dream of the 70's.
So you don't like freedom. Equal protection under the law and all that. At least you admitted up front that you approve of a dictitorial government as long as they are only sending people to the gas chambers that you don't like.
I'm sorry, but you ARE the weakest link.
