PONTIAC -- Kicker Jason Hanson can't forget how humiliating it felt to get a pep talk on how the winless Lions can save their season -- from a fifth-grader.
It was a painful example of how the Lions and family members are constantly reminded of the team's franchise record 0-12 start.

Detroit should be alright this week. They are playing the Vikings.

Hey..from a guy that watched Tom Dempsey's 63-yard field goal to beat the L's, live on TV, when I was a little kid....trust me, I know how it is....

A wise person once said something to the effect of, "You don't know how good something is until you lose it." At least Detroit fans still
have the Lions. I live in southern California and was a Rams season ticket holder, until that disgraceful human being Georgia Frontiere gutted the team and then hauled it to St. Louis.
Now I have four(!) favorite teams: (1) whoever is playing the Rams, (2) whoever is playing the Raiders (not because they left L.A., but because they're evil--"Just win, Baby!"), (3) the NFC's Green Bay Packers, and (4) the AFC's San Diego Chargers.

Remember way back when (from about 1960 forward), the Lions were lousy every year, but there were always other teams in the same boat (Atlanta, St. Louis, San Francisco, Bears, etc.) Well fast forward, most of those other teams have at least made it to the Super Bowl. I can't think of a single team that has led a more futile existence for the last 45 years than the Lions. I've lost all interest in them, and would rather sort paper clips than watch them on the tube.

Well fast forward, most of those other teams have at least made it to the Super Bowl. Welcome to Red Sox Nation.

Leno, the other night, said Bin Laden could safely hide in the end zone of the team playing the Lions "because no one ever goes there."

I've been a Tampa Bay fan for 20 years. You guys don't know what pain is. :) The last five years have been good to us, but the first twenty were pure hell. Remember, no other team is ever going to have an 0-26 streak like we had.

Ditto for Chargers fans. We have Doug "Which jerseys are our guys wearing"?, Flutie who seems to prefer to pass to the other team.

During his five years at Michigan, rookie offensive lineman Jeff Backus lost a total of 12 games. He has equaled that in three months with the Lions. But your quarterback from Rutgers should feel right at home.
To: Lessismore
I prefer to view his experience at Rutgers in a more positive light, he's had a lot of practice at running for his life.
A quarterback from a winning college program would be so shell shocked after a couple of Lion's games, he'd be ruined for life.

Lions? Whosdat?

Lions are up 17-7 over the Vikings.
The big question now is: how will they choke this week?
