I've been surprised throughout this thread by how much hate has been spewed by the lock-step republicans against their less partisan brethren. Calling them names won't make them more likely to vote for your candidate, and in fact will probably make them less likely. The real truth here is that the more the republican party moves to the left, the more voters they will loose on the right. Social issues matter to these conservatives and keeping them voting may mean doing something unpopular to keep them happy. Attacking this side of the party and alienating them further is the quickest way to both sides of the party loose.
Although I have always voted for republic presidential candidates, there may come a day when I won't. If the president compromises on too many issues that matter to me (nominating liberal judges, renewing the 1994 omnibus crime bill, running with a pro-abortion V.P.), he may loose my support and those like me in 2004. Most of us have a point where we would no longer vote for our political party. Karl Rove knows this, and it's the only thing keeping him from pushing the president more to left.
I care about the views my candidates take, to expect anything less is fascism.
I can cut off my nose just as sure as you can cut off your own.
