For the last two decades, our leaders have treated the enforcement of drug laws as the moral equivalent of war. On Sept. 11, it became blindingly clear that there really is no moral equivalent of war.

War, we were reminded, is when foreign enemies are trying to kill as many of us as they can. Cokeheads and dope smokers, whatever their shortcomings, don't have that mission. The Al Qaeda terrorists do.

Both are a thread to our way of live and need to be eliminated.

I guess that you're sort of overlooking the fact that drugs are already illegal and drug use has continued unabated despite the "war on drugs". Give us your plan for winning this "war".

That's right, they don't want to kill us all, they just want a steady harvest of our car stereos and wallets and our teenagers money. Other than that they are really decent people.

The main reason the drug business was so profitable for the Taliban is that it's illegal: Prices are always higher in black markets than in legal ones.

I'd be interested in your take on this statement. True,false?
